Lockdown day 385
Shopping embargo day 88 264

Yesterday's was the reverse of the previous day...at least I think it was. It was a very dull morning, and the start of the afternoon was not exactly bright, but the last 3 or so hours before sunset was bright with a lot of sunshine. It was another cold day that seemed like it would have suited January better than mid April. The late afternoon temperature reached 8° C, and possibly a tiny bit higher. The morning was rather different - just 1° C, and even at midday it was still around 3° C.
a cold but sunny start
Today started with a clear sky and frost ! It is currently bright and sunny with a clear blue sky. It could be a summer's morning, but the temperature says very different. By 2pm, after first sunshine, and then sunny spells, the temperature should rise to a more friendly 11° C. Sadly it is at 2pm when the forecast says we will lose the sunny spells in favour of 100% white cloud. By 9pm it might start to rain. Only a few sunny spells just before sunset are predicted for tomorrow. Most of the day will be either slightly dull or very dull, but the temperature should still rise to 10° C from around 5 or 6° C at daybreak.

When I think back to yesterday I can't seem to remember anything of any great significance. It was as if my early morning shopping trip was the highlight of the day yesterday. I did finish the laundry I mentioned yesterday morning, and so I did do something during the day. The funny thing is that I can't remember being bored, and so I must have found enough things to amuse me.
vanilla
                                      toilet paper
This amused me. I bought this pack of vanilla fragranced toilet paper from Aldi in the morning. I don' think I have ever paid any attention to what is printed on the back of these packs of toilet paper. Maybe they all have "hygiene routines" on the back. It seems a sad reflection on the state of the human race that we need to be told how to use toilet paper. I expect back when I was young, and the world was a saner place, my mum probably taught me how to wipe my bottom when I was less than  years old.
vixen
                                      sunning herself
The time on this camera was correct, but the date had gone completely doolally. A close up of the vixen sunning herself at 2.35pm would have been nice, but my garden camera only has a wide angle view. She basked in the sun for 10 minutes occasionally having a good scratch. Then she did a tour of the garden, and ate some grass and/or a few selected plants before going back to sitting in the sunshine. Sadly the sun didn't stay out much longer, and she went back down the earth to feed those hungry cubs.

I guess I was a bit bored yesterday, or as I think I said yesterday, or the day before, there was not enough going on to distract me from thoughts of food. In theory I shouldn't have had need for food for a long time after my breakfast. That breakfast was a couple of katsu flavoured fish cakes. I forgot to check the nutritional information but I suspect their sugar content may have been higher than I expected (which was quite low). The mashed potato that formed at least 50% of the fish cake would have given off a lot of sugar as it was digested.

At lunchtime I had 4 sweet kiwi fruits with a chunk of cheese. I might have had just one or two with a couple of not very sweet apples, but those kiwi fruits had been in the fridge since the previous Monday, and I was wary of keeping them much longer - although I guess they would probably have lasted a fair time in the fridge. I sort of knew I was heading for a sugar overload, but I didn't seem to care.

My dinner was far more sensible. It was grilled salmon with green beans, and it was very tasty. So tasty, in a fishy way, that I wanted something to tone down the fishiness after a while. For some insane reason I chose some chocolate for a slightly delayed dessert. I should have had some of the low sugar chocolate I had bought in the morning, but I decided to finish the last 3 small bars of chilli flavoured dark chocolate (that didn't seem to have any chilli in it). I knew it was stupid, but I did it anyway.

It seemed like I slept really well last night, and yet I can remember quite a bit from my dreams. I think that means that I may not have been sleeping all that deeply. The bit of the dreams I can remember are all about trains - and in particular, old slam door trains. One dream was about an old slam door train being run on a branch line. There were supposed to be two trains an hour, but they were not equally spaced, and it was something like 15 minutes, and then 45 minutes between trains.

I knew this was to avoid interfering with the normal trains on the mainline station. Some of my dream, and maybe quite a lot of it, was thinking about what the railway companies could have done to make those trains more regular. The answer was nothing without a gigantic budget to build new platforms or flyovers - obviously all stupid for an occasional enthusiast train, but the idea did seem to trigger the theme for another dream.

I was on a train going to somewhere unknown (and from somewhere unknown), and due to engineer works we were diverted to go through a rarely used underpass (or "flyunder"). It was like a tunnel, and they turned all the lights on in the tunnel so we could see it. Somehow we could see out the front of the train, and it was all rather fascinating !

I woke up this morning feeling cold, and my lower back was rather painful. I don't think I realised it was going to be cold enough for a frost this morning. I think I was expecting a mild night, and I had left the heating on low. I did wake up feeling cold about an hour before I got up, and turned the heating up full, but the damage had already been done. Apart from the lower back pain, I also felt like I was very close to getting cramp in my left calf muscle. Fortunately that never happened, and also fortunately my lower back pain seemed to evaporate away after I had been up for a while.

The very worst thing was my blood glucose level. It was up in the danger area this morning. I have already explained all my bad food choices in some of the paragraphs above. With the blood glucose level being 10.3mmol/l I have to take strong steps to bring that down. Basically I have to try and fast until dinner time, and then be careful about what I eat for dinner. All I need now is plenty of distractions of some kind to keep me out of the fridge today.

One such distraction should be the delivery of my new computer between 10:19 and 11:19 this morning. The trouble is that it is not the greatest distraction. If I do what I intend, and do it today. It was actually be very boring ! As I probably wrote yesterday, or the day before, the main part of the project is to clone the hard disk of the PC I am using to write this on. The hard drive is probably starting to fail, and I have to copy all my data before I loose it. My intention is go beyond copying data to actually cloning the hard disk so it can be swapped over with no disruption to how the PC works. Cloning the hard disk could take all day, and possibly more - it is a 2TB drive ! During that time I will be off the air, and I won't even be able to distract myself by going to the internet. Oh well, it will all be worth it in the end - I hope !
