My Diary/Blog For the Month of February 2024

Thursday 29th February 2024
 08:51 BST

Yesterday's weather was really appalling. It was very dull, and while the thermometer said it was as high as 13° C, there was a strong wind from the north east that felt almost icy. There was even an unscheduled light fall of rain at about 3pm. There was heavy rain sometime after sunset.
very wet
The road looked wet from recent rain, or possibly ongoing light drizzle, well before the forecast time of the start of the deluge that may fall from 9am to 7pm. The highest chance of rain is shown as 95% for a few hours. I guess that leaves a 5% get out clause if they have got the forecast completely wrong again, and the sun comes out. Today will be far from warm with just 11° C predicted, and even that will start to slowly fall from 11am onwards until just 6° C at 11pm. Tomorrow starts with no reason for cheer, just 5° C, and more heavy rain. There is no reason for cheer for the rest of the day either. 1pm might see the temperature peak for just 2 hours at 7° C. The afternoon may be a bit brighter, but plenty more rain could fall. It is possible that midday and 1pm may be the only hours with no rain !

Yesterday was good until it became bad ! A good shave, shampoo, and shower is always uplifting for at least a short time, maybe half an hour. I think my outside thermometers were agreeing it was 12° C when, at just gone midday, I put on a light coat, and went out into the icy blast from the north, north, east ! The good the bad, the beer, the aches, the pains, the food, the sleep, the dreams, and anything else I can remember are described in my full archived page for today.

 08:29 BST

Once again I was bamboozled into thinking yesterday's weather would be terrible. In reality it was only half terrible. It was windy, and the temperature only reached a very chilly feeling 8° C, but most of the day was not dull. Only a few sunny spells for the morning were forecast, but the morning was almost always sunny, and there were long sunny spells for much of the afternoon.
dull but dry
The forecast for today has changed a lot in the last 48 hours, with each hour showing something different. Things are still moving now. The latest revision is a lot like the screenshot above taken just after 6am. The most significant change since then is that the first rain is now expected to fall at 5pm. From then onwards there could be random light or heavy showers. Not a single ray of sunshine is forecast, but based on recent performance, that might not be completely true. The only good thing is that the temperature should reach 11° C today - although in the latest revision it might take until 9pm to get there. With such volatile weather the forecast for tomorrow will probably be meaningless, but for the record.....it might be very dull, very wet, and rather cold !

Yesterday was a very productive day, and quite satisfying until the late evening when it all went very wrong. One job I had to do, because I didn't do it on Monday, was to clean up a load of sesame seeds that Jodie had spilled on Sunday while struggling to open the bag they were in. This plus other housework adventures, and some more of yesterday, plus my night, and this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today.
Tuesday 27th February 2024
 08:14 BST

The weather forecast for yesterday said it would be dull until the afternoon was nearly over, but the first sunny spells, albeit very brief, happened before midday, and there were quite a lot of sunny spells in the afternoon. It still left it as a very chilly feeling day with the temperature only reaching 8° C, and the wind, which was quite strong in the morning, making it feel even colder.
sunny start
The BBC seem to have almost correctly forecast the start of this morning, although even they said sunny spells, but this current spell of sunshine seems to be a lot more than a sunny spell. The met Office say the first sunny spell would happen at 8am, and they would finish at 10am, but the latest revision shows a pause after 11am, and then one more sunny spells at 1pm. If many of the recent days tells us anything, it is that if we are lucky there may be more sunny spells than forecast. The temperature may still only reach 8° C by 2pm in the latest revision. The forecast for tomorrow has changed almost by the hour for the last few days. Once it was going to feature lots of sunny spells, and temperature as high as 12° C, but the latest version says it will be dull, with rain likely in the afternoon, and just 11° C, and that only briefly. Oh well, it is less cold than today.

Yesterday was a sort of variable day. It had it's ups and downs, but it seemed to pass by smoothly with no very boring times - maybe a few lightly boring minutes though. The highlight of the day...well, sort of, was doing some laundry. I admit it was not terribly exciting. All I remember of my day, plus all I remember of my night, which included a lot of dreams, plus a few notes about this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today.
Monday 26th February 2024
 08:42 BST

Yesterday started with many more hours of sunshine/sunny periods than forecast. The afternoon featured mostly white cloud, but from about 4pm the clouds grew a lot darker, and an hour later the first rain fell. Most of the time it was not particularly heavy, but there were short bursts of heavy rain. It was a generally cold day, made worse by a brisk wind (which seemed a lot stronger late in the night). The forecast was for a maximum of 8° C, but I think it may have just touched 9° C for a while.
grey, but possibly dry
The Met Office warns of rain, on a day when no rain is forecast. The BBC warn of strong winds, and the wind is very strong as I write this. They also predict one sunny spell at 5pm. The Met Office predict sunny spells for 10am (which seems unlikely when looking at the cloudy sky), and sunny spells for 3pm and 5pm - the latter being in agreement with the BBC, which could be a good thing. Both forecasters agree that 8° C is about all we can expect today. Tomorrow morning may start at just 2° C, but it could rise to 7° C, or maybe 8° C. The day may be dry, but not a single ray of sunshine is forecast to leak through even a tiny crack in the 100% cover of mostly white or light grey clouds.

Yesterday was good on several levels. Maybe the best was that after good blood glucose readings in the morning I was free to eat, and eat less carefully (but still not without some thought about what I was eating). After finishing writing I washed my hair, and showered ready to face people other than myself. Some of those peole were staff and people in Tesco, and I say more about that, plus the rest of my day in my complete archived page for today. It includes some notes about my sleep and dreams, plus the start of this morning.
Sunday 25th February 2024
 09:35 BST

The forecast said a sunny start to the day, but rain, sometimes heavy rain, would start to fall soon after midday. The reality was sunshine and sunny spells almost all day yesterday - and it stayed dry ! It was even warmer than forecast. I'm sure I remember seeing 9.9° C for a while, and I have a funny idea that what I saw could have been 10.9° C.
another bright sunny start to the day
There is a yellow warning of heavy rain this morning, but at the moment the sun is shining, and has been since it woke me up at just after 8am, but I will admit much of the sky is rather hazy, and the thin, patchy cloud could thicken up. The latest revision agrees with the early version shown above, and say the rain starts at 5pm, and from 6pm it could be very heavy. This morning started a lot lower than 3° C, and I think it was not much above 1° C at 5 or 6am. It had left a legacy of thick frost. The highest temperature today could be just 8° C. Tomorrow may feature mostly white cloud with a couple of sunny spells. Once again the temperature is only predicted to rise to 8° C, but it may not be so cold tonight thanks to the thick cloud.

Once again I did not realise that yesterday would be bright and cheerful. I believed the weather forecast, and that said it would be a depressing day. Even if I had realised it would be sunny all day it was unlikely I would have chosen to spend much time outdoors with the temperature so low.  What I did do tp pass the day, which was not a lot, is described, along with my night and this morning, in my complete archived page for today.
Saturday 24th February 2024
 08:33 BST

Yesterday was another day when the forecasts, including some early revisions, got it wrong ! The reality was that there was almost continuous sunshine from early morning until about midday, and then some sunny spells after that. At 4 or 5pm it did finally rain, and there was one particularly heavy downfall for a short while. Despite the nice sunshine it was still a rather cool day. I don't think the temperature went over 8° C.
nice sunny start
At the moment there is full sunshine, and it has been shining since sunrise. A lot of the sky is currently blue, and so it looks like the sunshine could continue for some time. It will probably degrade to just sunny spells as the afternoon approaches, and like yesterday, rain will fall in the afternoon. The latest revision to the forecast shows heavy rain for 1pm, and then light rain at 2pm. It may then just be gloomy, but dry until sunset. Clear skies overnight meant that this morning started with a thick frost, and it seems it may only rise to 7° C today. Tomorrow could follow a similar pattern to today and yesterday - sunny spells in the morning, and rain in the afternoon. It may be very slightly warmer at 8° C.

Yesterday was one of those days where little of importance happened, but I seemed to be very busy to do anything I thought I would do. It was also a day where my eating went a bit strange. In effect I reversed lunch and dinner. It had bad and good results which will be described in due course. My day, such as it was, is described, along with my night and a dream, plus this morning, in my complete archived page for today.
Friday 23rd February 2024
 08:20 BST

Yesterday was another horrible, grey and wet day. There were a few pauses in the rain, but very few, and very short. On the other hand,  not much of the rain was what you could call "heavy", although it was heavier than light rain. I think the temperature only reached 11° C, and during the afternoon, and evening, it slowly fell to 4.4° C around midnight.
sunny then wet
The lowest temperature I saw in the small hours of this morning was 4.4° C but it started to rise soon after. It is currently just over 5° C, and should reach it's peak of just 8° C at midday before falling back to 4° C by the end of the day. At the moment, as I write this, I am enjoying a sunny spells that I am sure has lasted over an hour, and with at least 75% of the sky looking a lovely blue, this sunny spell, or more of them, could last a long time, but both forecasters agree that it will cloud over by midday, and an hour or so later there could be rain until sunset. By 11pm the temperature will have dropped back to 4° C, and by tomorrow it may drop to just 1° C. Tomorrow will be like today. A sunny morning followed by rain in the afternoon. Once again, the peak temperature tomorrow may be just 8° C.

There were just enough distractions from the foul weather outside to say that yesterday was a fairly good day. It was even a bit productive. Soon after I had finished writing yesterday's page I tackled the unfinished laundry, and got it finished, and hung up to dry. The rest of yesterday, last night, and also this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today.
Thursday 22nd February 2024
 08:10 BST

Yesterday was horrible, grey and wet. The temperature started around 9° C, and crept up to 12° , for a few hours.
grim
Yesterday was horrible, although maybe not quite as bad as the forecast predicted, but today is going to try to be even worse. It seems to have recently rained, and that is contrary to the latest revision that has the rain start at midday. It should finish at 6pm, but some of those hours may see very heavy rain. The BBC have even thrown in a thunderstorm for midday, and they also show light rain from early morning up to midday. Both forecasters agree on 12° C towards the end of the morning, but as low as 4° C by the end of the day. Tomorrow's high could be 8 or possibly 9° C. The morning may be bright, possibly with some sunny spells, but rain will fall during the afternoon. The BBC gives the most pessimistic long range forecast of rain every single day until the end of the month !

Yesterday could have been described as annoying because I can't think of a better description. The grey skies and rain were annoying, and it was annoying not going to the pub. It was also annoying waiting for my Amazon parcel delivery with no idea when it might be delivered. All that is worth telling, and maybe some that isn't, about my day, night, and also this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today.
Wednesday 21st February 2024
 09:24 BST

Yesterday was a dry, but rather dull day. I can't recall seeing any sign of the sun, and the temperature was a cool 12° C.
Loadsa rain
This morning the heavens opened, although I'm not sure if I have noticed any heavy rain. At the moment the rain is really persistent, but only mildly heavy, or maybe just light rain. The latest revision definitely predicts heavy rain for 10am, 11am and midday. After that it will be light rain until gone 4pm. Maybe closer to reality is the BBC forecast that says light rain from early morning to 3pm, and then 2 hours of drizzle. Both forecasters predict it will reach 12° C today. One of thing the BBC predicts is strong winds this morning starting at 10am. Tomorrow may also be very wet, and it will be colder as well. The temperature may peak at 11° C at 9am, and then slowly fall to 5° C by 11pm. The morning after could see the temperature down to just 2° C - cold enough for snow, but no snow is forecast.

Yesterday had all the makings of a very boring day thanks to the terrible gloomy weather. However, although it was not terribly exciting, it was a fairly busy day. It started with quick shower before a shopping trip to Tesco. It was one of those shopping trips where I bought a lot of stuff to fill up an empty cupboard (so to speak). My shopping trip, plus the reast of my day, night, and this morning, are described in my complete archived page for today.
Tuesday 20th February 2024
 09:42 BST

Yesterday seemed nothing like any revision of the weather forecast. It was really gloomy until about midday when the sun blazed a hole in the clouds. After that it was supposed to be sunny, but there were not enough sunny spells following to be really memorable. There were certainly no full hours of full sunshine as predicted in the earliest forecasts. The temperature forecast was about right, and the mercury did touch 13° C.
mostly white cloud
The latest revision to the forecast has changed all but the midday dark cloud to white (or light) cloud. There is a 10% chance of rain at any time, but no actual rain is forecast The latest revision shows that the temperature will not go above 12° C today. Tomorrow could start with heavy rain until 9am when light rain will fall until almost sunset. The temperature should reach 12° C, but not until sunset. before that it will be generally 10° C.

Yesterday started out so dull that I could not believe the day could ever be nice enough to tempt me out for a walk - even to the shops. I was most startled at midday when instead of having a shower, I decided to wash some clothes, and the sun suddenly burst through the clouds while I was just finishing adding the clothes to the detergent. The rest of my day was rather less dramatic, but it is described, along with my night and dreams, in my full archived page for today.
Monday 19th February 2024
 08:51 BST

Yesterday turned out to be a lot better than the forecasts predicted. It was also a lot better than my personal forecast predicted. It was a bit grey and damp early in the morning, but the forecast of white cloud from about 10am turned out to be white cloud with loads of blue areas that allowed the sun to shine for the rest of the morning, and most of the afternoon. By mid afternoon the temperature had reached 14° C.
sunny afternoon
In theory we just have to wait until gone 11am for this dull (and possibly wet) morning to brighten up, and the first sunny spells from 1pm (according to the latest revision). If today is anything like yesterday the sunny spells could start even earlier. Sadly it seems that 13° C is the best we can expect today, and that for only a few hours. Incidently, The BBC forecast shows sunny spells from as early as 11am. Tomorrow is currently forecast to be a very dull day with the temperature only rising to 12° C.

All the sunshine or sunny spells automatically made yesterday a nice, pleasant day, although I did nothing to make use of the sunshine - apart from letting it warm my front, south facing, rooms. It could have been useful to go to Tesco again yesterday, but I never got around to it. Despite that, it was quite a good day, and it is all described, along with some notes about my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today.
Sunday 18th February 2024
 08:42 BST

Yesterday was dull, sometimes gloomy, and deeply depressing. Even 13° C felt very chilly under such a grey sky.
rainy start, but maybe dry in the
                            afternoon
All the icons featuring the sun peeping over a raining cloud want to suggest that it could brighten up by 10am, but while it might be a bit brighter, I do not believe we will see the sun until mid afternoon. The latest revision shows white cloud from 10am until sunset, but it still shows a 60% chance of heavy rain at midday (in the latest revision) despite the white cloud with the sun peeping around the side of it. Today should see 14° C, and that may feel OK in the afternoon sunshine. Tomorrow may feature a few sunny spells, several gloomy hours, and just 13° C.

Yesterday's gloom induced me into a melancholic sort of state. Maybe that is the wrong word for it, but it still meant I had no get up and go, and very little desire to do anything. It even altered my eating habits ! I spent some time just cleaning the lenses, topping up the batteries, and checking the date and time on the rest of my cameras. The good, the bad, and the indifferent bits of my day, night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today.
Saturday 17th February 2024
 09:56 BST

Mainly during the morning it seemed like yesterday might be a nice day. There were a lot of sunny spells, but the afternoon seemed to be mostly rather dull. A top temperature of 13° C also failed to make it a good day.
heavy rain late in the evening
A lot of today will be very dull, but some hours will be merely ordinary dull ! I think the Weather Warning, in the screenshot above, is probably not pertinent to this locality, but rain is forecast to fall from 8pm, and from 11pm it may be heavy rain that continues until at least tomorrow morning. The highest temperature today will be 13° C in the early afternoon. The rain should lighten up at about 4am tomorrow, and maybe finally stop at 7am. Tomorrow afternoon could feature a lot of sunny spells, and the temperature could rise to 14° C by sunset.

A return to less nice weather probably had a more psychological effect on me, with no particular physical effects. In saying that I am forgetting that a lot of the morning featured sunny spells, and I started to think of plans to get out, and into those sunny spells. I did go out to get some shopping in Tesco, but nowhere else. What I bought, and what I did during the day, how I slept, and some notes about this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today.
Friday 16th February 2024
 08:29 BST

Some of yesterday's weather was really lovely. By very early afternoon, lots of sunshine and sunny spells raised the temperature to almost 17° C. We last the sunshine late in the afternoon, but the temperature stayed up to at least 12° C as the day was ending.
some sunny spells - possibly
There were puddles in the road outside, and so there must have been some rain in the night, but today should be dry. It looks very dull now, as per the forecast, but it should brighten up in an hour or two. The latest revision shows less sunny spells than the earlier version of the forecast (shown above). The best temperature today should be 13° C, and it could last for many hours before dipping down to just 10° C after 10pm. Tomorrow could see 12 or 13° C, but it is likely to be quite a dull day that might end with some light rain.

Until about 2pm, yesterday was a great day. The sunshine and unexpected warmth felt wonderful. The very best bit was after I had my beer deliveries, and I was standing outside by the recycling bin cutting up boxes in the brilliant sunshine. There was enough wind to blow the boxes about, but it was a warm wind. I had not felt so good for months ! Of course it hasn't lasted. My day, night, and this morning are described in my complete archived page for today.
Thursday 15th February 2024
 08:29 BST

Yesterday was mild, but very dull. Apart from some early morning drizzle, it seemed to be dry until maybe almost midnight, but I was fast asleep by then, and unaware of what was happening outside. What I do know about the night was that it was also very mild. The afternoon temperature just hit 14° C, and by midnight it had only fallen to 12° C.
sunny spells or no sunny spells
Today seems to be one of those days when the weather is changing faster than The Met Office can keep up with. They have already moved the sunny spell shown above at 2pm, to sit at 11am, and the sunny spell for 9am has moved to 10am. At the moment it is sunny, and it is only The BBC website that says there will be sunny spells now, and through all the daylight hours. Curiously enough, both forecasters agree that there will be light rain at exactly 5pm. Both agree that the temperature could reach a very mild 16° C. Tomorrow may also feature a lot of sunny periods, but it will be a bit cooler at about 13° C.

The day before yesterday was quite miserable, but yesterday may have been the best day for ages. The big magical ingredient was the weather, aided by Kevin who turned up at the pub at lunchtime. The weather, a combination of the temperature, and maybe the barometric pressure rising, was such that I hardly had any aches or pains yesterday. There is a lot more about my day, with some pictures, in my complete archived page for today, which also includes notes about my night, and this morning.
Wednesday 14th February 2024
 09:31 BST

Yesterday was generally blood miserable. It was either dull or very dull, and if it wasn't raining, it still looked very damp outside. The only positive thing is that the temperature slowly rose from 7° C in the morning, to 12° C by 9pm.
very dull with at least some drizzle
The day starting at 12° C is probably the only good thing about today, although a possible 14° C in the early afternoon could be good too. Other than that it will be very dull for most of today. The big unanswered question is "how much rain, and when ?". The BBC forecast shows lots of assorted drizzle and shower splattered across the day. The Met Office also forecast rain, but the latest revision to the forecast says it will only fall after 10pm. Meanwhile the puddles in the road  persist, possibly fed by fine, almost invisible drizzle. Tomorrow could see 14° C, or even 15° C. The Met Office say there will be 100% white cloud all day. The BBC say sunny spells for much of the day. One of them has to be wrong.

Yesterday was a miserable day. The horrid weather did nothing to give any cheer, and actually did the opposite by making all my aches ache worse then usual. I actually felt ill for a lot of the day, and while I am very sure it couldn't have been 'flu, it did share many of the same symptoms. The rest of my day is described in my complete archived page for today. It includes how my night went, which was good because of a couple of sexy dreams, and my morning, which is good for a couple of reasons including not feeling ill today.
Tuesday 13th February 2024
 09:08 BST

Yesterday gloriously sunny, but it remained quite cold outside with the temperature only reaching 9° C.
dull weather returns
Today promises to be rather dull, and in the middle of the day it will be wet. In the latest revision to the forecast, light rain will start to fall at 2pm. By 4pm it will have turned to drizzle followed by one more hour of light rain at 5pm. The temperature will slowly rise until it reaches 12° C, but not until 9pm ! Tomorrow could reach 13° C as early as 11am. Once again there will be several hours of rain in the middle of the day, and some of it could be heavy rain.

The sunshine made yesterday a rather nice day - providing you weren't out in the chilly air. It inspired me to do just one thing of importance yesterday - shopping. I can't really recall doing anything particularly worthwhile apart from that shopping, but even so, the day passed by fairly smoothly. All there is to describe about yesterday, plus last night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today.
Monday 12th February 2024
 08:53 BST

Yesterday was generally bright, and I think I can just about recall a brief sunny spell or two. It was a fairly cool day with the temperature only reaching 10° C.
sunny spells and sunshine expected
I feel sure the single heavy shower shown for 8am didn't happen. The ground outside looks dry. The sky looks mostly clear, and that is why this morning started off so cold, but it also means the sun is shining as I write this. It even looks like we will get full sunshine now, instead of having to wait until midday for sunny spells to turn into pure sunshine. Sadly, all the sunshine will still only raise the temperature to 9° C. Only a light breeze is expected today, and so that 9° C may not feel too cold (but still not warm). Tomorrow sees a return to rain, but while the BBC say lots of it, the Met Office just shows light rain in the afternoon. The temperature will probably be at least 10° C.

There were two notable things about yesterday, and a whole lot of nothing more to write about. Maybe it also notable that I had a shower on a day I probably needn't have bothered (I was going nowhere, and seeing no one - as far as I knew). maybe that little bit of doubt was the reason for it. Despite saying this, I do seem to have written more about yesterday than I expected, and you can read about my day, also my night and this morning in my full archived page for today.
Sunday 11th February 2024
 09:49 BST

Yesterday's weather was pretty miserable, but it did start nice with some sunny spells. Later on there was a lot of drizzle. At sunset a lot of the sky seemed clear, and there was quite a colourful sunset, but it was still drizzling from what looked, at least to the west, as an empty sky. The temperature briefly touched 11° C but 10° C was more representative.
dull and damp morning, but brighter
                            later
The latest revision to the forecast shows 10am as just light rain, and for the rest of the day it should be dry with just white clouds. There are none forecast, but the clouds look very patchy, and the occasional hole could open to let in a brief ray of sunshine. In fact the BBC forecast shows sunny spells from 1pm onwards. The highest temperature we can expect will be 10° C. Tomorrow could start at just 4° C, but a lot of sunny spells should raise it to about 9° C.

Yesterday was a day which could have been boring and depressing, but I became sort of numb to it, and while I couldn't think any positive thoughts, I managed to think neutral thoughts for much of the day. I did two things - one of which was positive, and the other probably positive, but it could have just been sideways ! What there was to describe about my day, night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today.
Saturday 10th February 2024
 09:45 BST

Yesterday';s weather started out far better than forecast. There were many sunny spells in the morning, and some of them lasted a half hour or more. Even the afternoon was often bright, but rain did start towards sunset, and once it was dark the outside world was a mystery to me. The temperature did rise to 12° C by the afternoon, and it didn't fall much in the night.
sunny start
Contrary to what the weather forecast may show, it was bright and sunny for the first couple of daylight hours. Now it seems to have revert to the light gloom that is forecast. It looks like there has been a recent light shower too. The cloud will thicken at midday, and later on there will be light rain at variable times in the afternoon and early evening. The latest revision has added an extra hour of 11° C to that shown in the screenshot above. Tomorrow could be mostly dry, except for a couple of hours of light rain (Met Office) or feature rain or drizzle for most of the day (BBC forecast). Both forecasters agree that 10° C will be the best we can expect, and several degrees or more cooler at the ends of the day.

The unexpected sunshine yesterday morning started off the day nicely, but overall it was a miserable day for all sorts of reasons. The principle problem was that I felt lousy. At times I wondered if I might have several different diseases, but it was all probably just the changing weather. All this and more is described in my complete archived page for today, and it includes stuff about sleeping and dreams, and about the start of this morning.
Friday 9th February 2024
 08:57 BST

There was a longer period without rain in the middle of the than was forecast, but yesterday was still definitely a wet day!  However, the warm wet air responsible for the rain meant that the middle of the day saw the temperature reach about 12° C. It even kept the temperature up during the evening and night.
not as wet as yesterday
The weather forecast has changed quite a bit in the latest revision. The heavy rain for this morning is now shown as light rain, but the sunny spells at 1pm and 2pm are now shown as part of a dry period of light cloud between midday and 4pm.There now may only be light rain at 4pm and 10pm The temperature should reach 13° C for a single hour at 2pm. The BBC weather forecast, which previously said rain all day, has reduced it to light rain and a lot of drizzle through the whole day. The Met Office says tomorrow will be dry, but with only a few sunny spells. The BBC predict tomorrow may feature a mix of sunshine and sunny spells through the whole day. Both forecasters predict 11° C tomorrow.

I think I have to describe yesterday as a lot better than such a wet and gloomy day deserved to be described. Aside from the diabolical weather, there were quite a few good things about yesterday. My day (after writing yesterday's stuff) started with finishing the laundry I had started the previous day. The rest of my day, night, including a dream, and this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today.

Yesterday was cold and dull. The temperature was approximately half the previous day. The temperature peaked at 7° C, but it was just 6° C for much of the day. The wind made it feel even colder, as did the complete lack of any hint of sunshine.
heavy rain
The yellow warning of rain today is because heavy rain is expected at the start and end of the day, but also for the total amount of rain expected to fall through the whole day. However, the latest revision to the forecast has downgraded some previous hours of heavy rain to lighter rain now. The dry, but still terribly gloomy few hours in the middle of the day has now been expanded to be dry between 1pm and 4pm. The temperature may still hit 12° C, but only for a single hour at 4pm in the latest revision. There is still a rain warning for tomorrow, but it looks like it will mostly be light rain, and with many hours possibly staying dry. Tomorrow's temperature could also hit 12° C for a few hours.

Yesterday was another good and bad day, but it was also a day that more evidence to one of my health theories. One great thing about yesterday was the early delivery of a parcel I was expecting to come later. It wasn't all such a great thing though.... All is explained in my complete archived page for today, and which also includes some notes about my night, and this morning, but nothing about any dreams because I can't seem to remember any this morning.

Yesterday could almost have been mildly warm-ish, but for two things. One was a chilly wind, and the other was a lack of sunshine (although the morning did include a few sunny spells that never appeared in any forecast). The temperature almost hit 15° C, but maybe 13° C was more representative of the middle of the day. Late evening saw some heavy rain.
dull
There was some hope that today might include some sunny spells, but the current look of the sky, plus the forecasts, say today is going to be dull. The Met Office say very dull, and The BBC say just dull. As I write this it looks like the met Office is winning. It is rather wet outside after overnight rain, but today is forecast to be dry. It is also forecast to be rather chilly. Depending on who gets it right, today could be no more then 7 or 8° C. Tomorrow may see 11° C, but it will come at the cost of rain all day long - and much of it could be heavy rain.

Yesterday I did something for the very first time this year ! I went out without wearing a coat. My thermometers said it should have been mild, and in the odd few seconds when the wind dropped it did actually feel so, but most of the time a strong wind made it feel rather chilly. I was heading to Tesco. That plus other things about yesterday, last night, and also this morning, are described in my complete archived page for today.

Yesterday was like several days recently - there were some sunny spells in the morning when the weather forecast said it was going to be gloomy all day. Much of the afternoon was dull, but sometimes the clouds changed from grey to white. It was still a rather cool day, and some gusty wind would have made it feel cooler still. The forecast temperature was for a maximum of 11° C, but it might have made 12° C for an hour or so.
mostly dull
Today could see that odd bit of weather shown for 10am above - white cloud, dripping rain, while the sun looks over the edge and smiles.....or something like that. Of course in the latest revision 10am is shows as dark clouds with light rain. There will be far more copious rain this evening, and it could start as early as 6pm as drizzle. These cloudy days are usually caused by warm damp air blowing in, and today that warm damp air will keep the temperature up to 13° C for a lot of the day. Tomorrow is a bit of an enigma. The Met Office says white cloud for almost the whole day, and just 8° C. The BBC predicts sunny spells all day, but agrees with 8° C.

I achieved quite a few useful things yesterday. The most hated thing, although it wasn't too bad at all, was to pay off my credit cards. I almost went out shopping, but in the end I didn't, although I did order a few things from Amazon. Sometimes things seemed quiet enough to do some quiet reading, and at other times I was actually productive. There is one thing I forgot to today's complete archived page for today, and it was to say that after many attempts I finally got through to the pharmacy to order my next repeat prescription that I will pick up on Wednesday afternoon.

 09:18 BST

Yesterday was very similar to the day before except for some drizzle very early in the morning. There were a few short sunny spells despite the forecasts saying none at all, but the forecasts were very nearly right. The forecast temperature was 12° C, but I feel sure I saw at least 13.5° C.
mostly dull
Today is another day when both forecasters deny any chance of sunshine, but we have just had a few sunny spells, and indeed the sun is shining now, and I can see lots of blue patches in the sky. Maybe today will feature sunny spells, or maybe it will revert to the gloomy forecasts. Both forecasters predict just 11° C today. Tomorrow may not feature any sunshine, but rain is forecast for the evening. It should be slightly warmer, and 13° C is predicted.

I don't think I can describe yesterday as particularly good, but neither can I describe it as particularly bad. I think I have to use that word that school teachers used/use in end of term school reports when they could think of nothing else but to describe the pupils progress as "satisfactory". My "satisfactory" day, night, and also this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today.

 08:57 BST

It was quite dull yesterday, sometimes very dull, but I seem to recall a couple of 15 second sunny spells. If there was anything good about yesterday's weather, it was that the temperature came within a few tenths of a degree to 14° C.
possibly a bit of rain later
It is obvious there has already been some light rain or drizzle this morning, possibly around 7am, and the sky looks like it has more to offer. The latest revision to the forecast says light rain at 2pm, and drizzle at 3pm. I suspect there could be more than that today. Today's highest temperature could be just 12° C. Tomorrow could be cooler, just 10° C, but it might stay dry despite thick dark grey clouds all day.

There was nothing particularly bad about yesterday, but it was another day with only limited action, and so often almost, but not fully boring. I did do one bit of physical work, and I did some useful research on my TV. I discovered a few things I didn't previously know. My full day is described, or the most notable bits of it, along with my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today.

 09:08 BST

I don't think any revisions to the Met Office or BBC weather forecasts matched reality. The forecasts said a 100% cloudy day, whetehr light or dark cloud. Reality was that after about 10am the cloud started to break up, and by 11am it was starting to get sunny, and the afternoon was very sunny. That slightly raised the temperature a bit, and I noted very close to 14° C (actually 13.8° C was the highest I saw). I didn't leave the house yesterday, and so I can really say what that felt like outside, but the sun through my bedroom windows did warm it up nicely.
mostly very dull
Both forecasters are adamant that today will be a rather dull day, but that the temperature should reach 13° C. At the moment it is both looking grim, and sort of fairly light. The chances of the cloud breaking up seems slimmer today. On the other hand, the latest revision to the forecast has shuffled around some of the dark grey, and light grey clouds. That suggests things are not completely static, and so change can be expected - hopefully for the better.  Tomorrow may be a clone of today.

I felt worse than I thought I felt yesterday morning, and even a bit into the afternoon. I was OK sitting here quietly behind my keyboard typing yesterday's blog entry, but after that I found myself disinclined to do anything except quietly read. That was OK because I predicted that as I finished writing yesterday. I actually did more than nothing, and it is all described, with one picture to show one result, in my complete archive page for today, and which also includes my night and some of this morning.
Friday 2nd February 2024
 10:11 BST

It seems The BBC won the battle of the weather forecasts yesterday. There was far more sunshine or sunny spells than the meagre forecast made by The Met Office. It did little for the temperature which only reached 9 or maybe 10° C. That didn't feel that warm, although indoors the sun felt very warm. The day ended with a very colourful sunset.
mostly very dull
Red sky at night is supposed to be a sign of good weather the next day, but last nights very colourful display seem to have come to nothing today. Both forecasters I check say it will be a cloudy day, although The BBC predict light grey cloud, and The met Office say very dark cloud. What neither predicted was the 30 seconds of weak watery sunshine just now. The sun seemed to find a somewhat misty gap in the clouds. It doesn't look there is much chance of any more sunshine getting through those clouds. The only positive thing is that today could be 12 or even 13° C. Tomorrow looks like it might be identical to today, but with one slight twist - The BBC say very dark clouds, and The met Office say lighter grey clouds.

There were good and bad things about yesterday. One good thing was that I went shopping in Aldi. One bad thing is that I went shopping in Aldi ! I got some good and useful things in there, but I also gave into temptation and bought stuff I shouldn't eat. All this is explained in greater detail in my complete archived page for today. It also included notes about my sleep, dreams, and how this morning my usual routine has gone haywire.

 09:06 BST

Yesterday was bright, but there was almost no sunshine, if indeed there was any sunshine ! There was quite a cool wind blowing which made 10° C feel very chilly.
some sunny spells in the morning
I suspect The Met Office weather forecast, as shown above, has got it wrong. The latest revision has reduced the amount of sunshine today. On the other hand The BBC forecasts loads of sunshine from sunrise to sunset. Looking at the sky as I write this I can see a covering of very patchy, thin, mist like cloud. That could attenuate the sun from time to time, but it won't stop it. The extra sun in the BBC forecast pushes up their temperature to 10° C, while The met Office only reckon on 9° C at best. Tomorrow could see thick cloud and 12° C, but the BBC says medium cloud and a possible 13° C.

Yesterday was another of those days that started good, but ended bad. Actually the morning was almost bad as well. After writing all yesterday's scribble I lay down to rest my eyes, and got a bit carried away. I had my shave, shampoo, and shower a bit late, and ended up getting a later train to the pub. The rest of my day, night, and also this morning is described in my complete archived page for today.
