Yesterday was mostly dry,
except for some light rain in the
morning. However, it was still very
grey, and with a top temperature of
just 5° C, it was quite a cold day.
Today is supposed to be a bit
brighter, and I guess it is a
slightly lighter shade of gloomy
grey. No rain is expected, and
that is a good thing. A maximum
temperature of 6° C is not a good
thing. Tomorrow will be just like
today except it will only reach 5°
C. It seems to be taking forever
to get some sort of spring joy.
Today is the day that
Patricia comes to stay for one
night. She will be arriving
earlier than her original estimate
- possibly as early as 1pm. That
means I am going to have to keep
this brief, but that is OK because
I don't have a lot to say about
yesterday.
The plan was to do a lot
more housework yesterday, but I
just couldn't seem to raise the
energy or enthusiasm. It took
until the afternoon, but I did
hoover the dining room again, and
it did make it look a bit better.
With a worn out carpet it was
never going to look good. I also
hoovered the hall, and the bottom
step of the stairs, but I gave up
at that point. I didn't do any of
the hoovering I was intending to
do upstairs.
Luckily the spare bedroom
looks like the best room in the
house at the moment, and so I
won't have to worry about Patricia
having to sleep in a grotty room.
All the time I spent when I should
have been hoovering, dusting, etc,
I spent keeping warm in my
bedroom, and passing a lot of the
time just reading. I did leave a
heater on low in the spare
bedroom, and although it was quite
cold in there this morning, it was
feeling very pleasantly warm in
there when I turned the heater off
yesterday evening.
I was going to try and eat
sparsely yesterday, but I didn't
really do well at doing that. For
lunch I had two tiger rolls with
ham and pickle. I think I will go
back to having mustard with ham.
The pickle is OK, but I think
mustard is better, although it was
interesting to try the
alternative. In the middle of the
afternoon I had a couple of small
(25gm) packets of Hula Hoops, and
I think I had a chunk of cherry
cake after them.
My dinner was a big plate
of fruit, and once again I had
more cherry cake as a dessert. I
fear I am getting to like cake too
much now, and I must stop buying
any more. It is now having a
negative effect on my weight and
blood glucose. The only good thing
was that my dinner did not give me
any indigestion problems, and I
was able to get to sleep with no
trouble, although it was a bit
later than intended because I read
on bed for longer than usual. I am
getting near the end of the book,
and I seem to be racing ahead now
to see how it ends.
I slept quite well last
night. I was waking up to pee
every 2 to 3 hours - almost as
normal although every 2 hours
seems more typical. There was only
one time when it seem like I might
have had a period of insomnia
after coming back from the
freezing bathroom. It seemed like
it took a long time to get back to
sleep, but I guess it just seemed
that way, and was probably little
more than 10 minutes.
I had a little extra sleep
this morning, and it was around
7.20am when I got up. I went for a
pee, and what I thought was going
to be a poo was only a lot of
wind. Hopefully a poo is not too
far behind, although it will be
too late to make my weight look
better. This morning I seem to
have lost just 100gm, or in simple
terms, my weight is just gently
bobbing up and down on a base
level that is too high for my
liking.
Eating all the cake
yesterday did my blood glucose no
favours. No reading was that bad,
but all were a bit higher than I
would like. The Contour meter read
8.9mmol/l, and that almost on the
boundary where any higher could
cause bad things (although the
actual red line is 10.0mmol/l).
The GlucoRX meter read a better
8.6mmol/l. That is acceptable. The
Sinocare meter read the same as
the Contour meter, 8.9mmol/l.
This morning, despite
feeling sort of rushed, ny blood
pressure was better than recently,
although it did take two goes to
get it down to 104/48. Just
getting that good result makes me
feel less stressed. Now I can
finish writing this, and put my
feet up earlier than hoped, but
only for a little while. I then
need to shave, shampoo and shower.
When that is done I can fully
relax - probably. I expect I'll
probably try to do a few more last
minute bits of tidying up before
Patricia arrives. I don't know
what we will do once she is here.
I guess she will want some lunch,
and I am not sure about what that
will be. This evening we should be
going to an Indian restaurant for
a meal, and so I guess neither of
us will want a big lunch.
