Just as I
expected, the thunderstorms the
BBC predicted were just fantasy,
but the rain was no fantasy. I
think I would describe the rain as
persistent rather than heavy. Most
of it was medium light, but it
just went on and one with no
respite from before sun rise,
until early evening. The
temperature seemed almost constant
at 14° C until it started to drp
after 4pm. By 1am it had fallen to
9° C.
This morning started off wet.
It must have been raining during the
night, and maybe only stopped just
before sunrise. It also seemed to have
warmed up a bit. It was 9° C at 1am,
but at 7am the forecast said it should
be 11° C, and I think that was about
right. It still looks damp outside,
but I haven't seen any rain falling.
Maybe it is so light that it can't be
seen, and can only be felt. The
temperature should rise to 15° C by
1pm, and the forecast says no more
rain after that. By 3pm we
may
get some sunny spells for a couple of
hours. By 5pm the sun will have set,
and there can't be any sunny spells.
Rain my resume at 10pm, and it may
start with drizzle. The rain may
continue all night, and then through
to midday tomorrow. 1pm may be the
first hour with no rain, and it should
stay dry for the rest of tomorrow.
Like today, there will be a couple of
hours at 15° C, but most of tomorrow
will be either 13° C or 14° C,
There were several things I
thought I might do yesterday, but I
only did one of them. Yesterday was
awfully grey and wet, and that ruled
out any outdoor activities. I didn't
even want to take the rubbish out to
the wheelie bins !
One thing I didn't do after I
had finished writing, and had a short
rest, was to have a shower, and I
might have been thinking of washing my
hair. I was not expecting to see
anyone, and I was not going to go out,
and I didn't feel the need for a wash
- except for brushing my teeth, and
washing my hands a few times. However,
I did start to wash two hand towels -
one "normal" sized, and the other
slightly larger.
I started by soaking both
towels in bio detergent, and didn't
get back to them until later in the
afternoon. As I expected when washing
towels, they needed copious amounts of
rinsing, and it was too tiring to do
it all in one go. I think I stopped
and rsted a few times. I gave up
before I was really happy I had rinsed
all the soap/detergent out of the
towels, but I probably came close to
it when I hung them up to dry in the
front room, with a desk fan blowing at
them to help them dry. That was
probably during a TV commercial break,
and almost mid evening !
I passed a fair bit of time,
before I started watching TV, by just
laying on my bed reading. I think that
also meant the occasional snooze,
although I don't seem to recall
snoozing at any specific time. Maybe
sometimes I was just resting my eyes.
The one thing I did do was to have
some lunch at just after midday. It
was basically cheese on rice crackers,
which is semi healthy if you ignore
the fat content of the cheese. I made
sure it was unhealthy, although not
really by intention, by adding
generous blobs of mustard pickle on
each cheese on rice cracker.
As already mentioned, I
returned to the towels I was washing a
few times, but most of the afternoon
was just wallowing in semi laziness.
As 6pm approached I got ready for
watching the 6 O'clock News, and
having dinner. My dinner was the well
tested recipe of vanilla ice cream,
and cake. As unlikely as it sounds, it
seemed to be a bit healthy in some
respects. I can lose weight when
eating it, and it doesn't seem to
affect my blood glucose. I left it to
some snacks to sabotage any goodness
of my dinner.
I watched the usual TV
programmes, and finished with an
edition of Have I Got News For You.
That finished at 11pm, and I want
straight to bed once it had finished.
Things seem very vague after that, and
I think that was because I was soon
fast asleep. I know I got up to pee a
few times, and I was awake considering
a dream for a short while, but I
seemed to get enough good sleep to get
up a bit earlier this morning.
My dream used some real life in
it, but a bit twisted, and maybe a lot
twisted in an erotic way. The real
life element was to to do with my
light sensitivity to iodine when used
as a contrast dye to make veins and
arteries show up more on X-rays. I
think the dream started in a doctor's
surgery. It all seemed to be a bit
confusing as to why what was happening
was happening. It involved giving
sperm samples, and they were to be
preserved in an iodine solution, or
maybe the test was to see if they were
preserved in an iodine solution.
I was to go along to a certain
room where I would be met by an
alleged very pretty physiotherapist
who would assist me in procuring a
sperm sample, or ideally more than
one. The sad thing is that the dream
dafed away as I was walking to the
room. I never did get to meet the
"very pretty physiotherapist", and get
to "enjoy" all she could do for me.
After I had finished writing
yesterday morning, I had another visit
to the toilet, and do what was
possibly my fourth poo of the day.
That last one was quite "loose", but
not nearly as bad as diarrhoea, but it
must have emptied me out enough that
this morning all I could manage was a
big fart. Fortunately I did also
manage another big pee. The net result
of it all was that this morning I seem
to have put on 100gm (although earlier
on it was more like 500gm). Losing
100gm would have been far more
preferable.
My blood glucose has returned
to a nicer, but only just, figure. The
Contour meter read 6.9mmol/l, and
anything starting with a "six" is very
good. The GlucoRX meter read even
better at 6.6mmol/l. Once again,
and very annoying after the
great start to using the meter, the
GlucoFix meter gave the highest
reading. It was 7.6mmol/l, but that is
still pretty good. The average for all
three is 7.03 mmol/l, and that is an
improvement on yesterday's 7.1mmol/l,
but only a tiny improvement, and
actually exactly the same as the
previous couple of days.
I almost I forgot this picture
I took at just after 3.30pm yesterday.
I went into the back room to put a
freshly charged battery into one of my
camera bags, and saw this rainbow out
the window. I can't recall seeing one
so far to the south. Most tend to be
at right angles to my house, or to the
east. This one seemed quite bright,
and there was an easy to see second
rainbow just to the left of it. The
sun was getting close to setting when
I took the picture, and so everything
looks a bit dull. Fortunately the
closest camera to hand was my semi-pro
Nikon D610, and the picture was "clean
enough" to enhance without adding
noise and stuff.
There are a few things I will
probably do today. One is to have a
shower, and I may wash my hair too.
That would save time tomorrow morning.
The main thing I want to do today is
to go out shopping to Poundstretcher
(or possibly Poundland). I want to buy
some cereal bowls, or something
similar to use as cat food plates. I
also want to buy a new toilet brush
and holder. My existing one once
looked very nice. it was like it was
silver plated, but it was just tinned
tin, and it is now badly rushing. In
fact I think it has a hole in it's
base (fortunately it has a plastic cup
inside that retains any smelly drips).
There is probably other stuff I
will buy, but I'll have to get there
to decide what it will be once I have
seen it. I'm not sure what else I
might do today. It might be no more
than quietly reading and snoozing -
except for one thing. Once I have
showered it will be time to give
myself my next Mounjaro injection.
That will be the second of four from
the current injection pen. Tomorrow I
see the nurse, and I expect she will
prescribe the next strength up. I am
getting an occasional hint that the
stuff is starting to help with weight
loss, but it is not the miracle drug I
was lead to believe it was.
