Yesterday was a fairly good day.
In fact, in one respect it was a
very good day - walking to and
from Tesco with no coat needed !

Maybe it was the bright and
sunny morning that inspired me to
spend less time resting after I
had finished writing yesterday,
and instead going for a shampoo
and shower. As the weather, and
the ground through which my water
pipes enter my house, warms up,
the water from the tap on my bath
warms up. Later in the year I will
need to turn the temperature down,
but yesterday it was comfortably
hot. That made for a more
enjoyable shower, and for washing
my hair.
Once I was clean and shiny,
although I'll admit I really
needed a shave as well, I felt
good about going out, and going
out without a coat on. It was only
a short walk to Tesco, but it
would have been quite comfortable
walking further - such as around
the park. That is comfortable as
in the temperature, but also
comfortable as in my legs and
ankles seem to be recovering their
former strength. It may still be a
little time before I am ready to
enjoy much longer walks, but
things improve with every bit of
walking I do.
As I am sure I must have
mentioned yesterday, I was not
desperate to top up the fridge and
freezer, but in a few more days it
would become a bit important. That
was no excuse for buying a lot
more than usual.....or did I ? The
size of the bill suggested I had
bought half the store, but it all
fitted into my rucksack and one
Aldi re-usable bag. I suppose it
was a bit heavy, but I managed to
walk both to and from Tesco non
stop, and at a fair pace (but not
as fast as I hope I will be able
to again.
One of the first places I
headed to, once inside the store,
was the sandwich shelves. I freely
admit they are an expensive
luxury, and it is all another
symptom of laziness, but I have my
reasons. Although I enjoyed a
couple of sandwiches for my lunch
after getting home from the store,
a more important thing was to have
a couple of sandwiches waiting in
the fridge when I get home from
The Jolly Farmers today. If, as
intended, I walk there, possibly
via a longer route, and then after
walking back, I am usually
ravenous. Having a couple of
sandwiches may save me from some
even more unhealthy eating.
I guess it is a terrible
confession, but going to and from
Tesco, plus buying stuff while in
there, seemed as if it was enough
for one day. I spent a very lazy
afternoon laying on my bed, with
the added luxury of bright
sunshine shining through the
windows onto my body. I can't
actually remember snoozing, but I
would be surprised if I didn't
have at least one snooze. I know I
definitely read a chapter of two
of the book I am reading - Douglas
Adam's "
The
Long Dark Tea Time Of The Soul".
At some time during the
afternoon I had a very naughty
snack of a thick slice of iced
Madeira cake. I mention this now
because it is mostly relevant to
my blood glucose readings this
morning - they were actually very
good despite this chunk of very
sweet cake !
The next great event of the
day was dinner. It was actually a
relatively safe meal. It was mini
oven cooked.grilled "Mediterranean
style mixed vegetable for
roasting" and three sausages with
black pudding in them. I must
admit it was nicer than I thought,
or even sounds. I did follow it
with some (potentially) very
naughty chocolate ice cream. Maybe
the caffeine in the chocolate was
responsible for some difficulty of
getting to sleep last night.
My evening was spent mostly
watching TV. None of it was really
exciting, and some only marginally
entertaining (and that was after
selecting what I could stand
watching very carefully). I can't
quite remember what time I went to
bed, but I knew I read a few more
pages from my book before trying,
and failing to fall asleep. I
could not get comfortable. There
was the usual too hot and too cold
problem, but also I found my legs,
and maybe to a lesser extent, my
ankles, seemed to not like any
position I tried.
It is very probable that I
lay in bed, tossing and turning,
for a lot less time than it seemed
to be, before falling into a
pleasant sleep. Maybe it was even
a good sleep - who knows ? I did
not seem to wake very often to go
for a pee, and when I did I didn't
seem to pee all that much. That is
despite taking my evening dose of
Furosemide, the usually quite
aggressive diuretic tablet. This
morning I would learn that one
reason was that my blood glucose
was being very positively affected
by my latest injection of Mounjaro
(injected after my shower
yesterday).
I had one notable dream
last night. It was sort of in the
form of a documentary, but with no
narration, and maybe no sound at
all. The latter is a shame because
it was all about sound. It was
about two big cathedrals, or at
least two grand buildings with big
organs in them. Cathedrals would
seem to fit the description, but
gothic cinema would also suit.
The significant bit of the
dream was that one of the
buildings had been designed a few
hundred years ago by an architect
who understood the science of
sound. He had designed the
foundations to include many
resonant chambers that were
connected to the organ. The result
was an ultra rich bass presence,
and the lowest notes would
literally shake the foundations by
design. It is a shame that the
dream seemed to be silent because
the "soundtrack" could have been
magnificent.
When I got up I went for a
pee, as usual, but so far this
morning I have not passed any
poo.....on the other hand I did
seem to produce an abundance
yesterday (one stool did not flush
away until this morning !).
Not pooing may have had a negative
effect on my weight, but
considering all I ate, and what
some of it was, I guess a gain of
just 100gm was not too terrible.
One the other hand, despite
some stuff I have already
confessed to, plus some I haven't,
my blood glucose readings were
magnificent this morning. The very
best was a very rare 5.8mmol/l.
Readings as low as "fives" are
very rare, and only happen a few
times a year - or so I guess. The
other two readings were not as
good, but still very good , just
6.4 and 6.9mmol/l. That Mounjaro
may not do much, or indeed
anything for my weight - the thing
it is supposed to be famous for,
but it works miracles on my blood
glucose.
I am not too sure how I
feel this morning. I guess I could
use the word good, but that has
too many expectations tagged to
it. As already stated, my blood
glucose is very good this morning,
and my blood pressure at 112/52 is
also very good (at least I think
it is, but different cardiologists
seem to have different ideas).
Probably the biggest plus is the
bright sunny weather, and it
should be warm enough for no coat
later. The only negative is a
growing feeling that I am probably
constipated, but even that may
pass before the morning is over.
I am looking forward to a
walk through the park to the Jolly
Farmers today, but maybe I might
not walk through much of the park.
I am considering walking via the
little supermarket on Catford
Bridge to get a few things -
mostly for me, but maybe a treat
for Ayse, and a treat for Michael.
I'll then go to Catford Bridge
station and get a train to
Ladywell. From there it is a
short-ish walk to the pub through
a bit of the park. I may get the
train home again, or I might walk.
It does seem like walking weather,
and I seemed to be building my
walking capabilities up now. I
might
even consider still walking to the
pub by walking the entire length
of the park.
P.S. I am considering wearing
shorts for my walk in the park.
P.P.S. I am now no longer
constipated !
