Yesterday was another warm day.
The sun seemed to shine all day, and
the temperature probably hit the
forecast 16° C, but I can't be too
sure about it, or what it was like
outside because of reasons I'll
explain in the main text of today's
electronic diary.
Today
is going to be a very sunny day,
and the temperature should peak
at a very nice 17° C.
Tomorrow may see lots of sunny
spells, but no non-stop
sunshine. The temperature should
still rise to a good enough 15°
C. After tomorrow we revert to
poor and/or nasty weather - cold
and grey days, and some days
will feature rain !
Yesterday was a very
different day to anything I
might have expected. My morning
was typical - I wrote 2,593
words here, and then I had a
rest. After the rest I was
getting myself psyched up to
finish the laundry I had almost,
but not quite finished the day
before, and also looking forward
to some lunch. Then the phone
rang......
The caller was the other
gas bag I know. I guess I can't
blame my old friend Keith
because at some parts I seemed
to have a lot to say as well -
when I could get a word in
edgewise. The good bits were
interesting, but I could have
done without the usual lecture
on the state of 5G rollout, and
other stuff about mobile phones.
I suppose every one needs a
hobby, but I think I'll stick to
train spotting as an occasional
diversion.
It was passed dinner time
(usually around 6pm) before I
had to call time on the phone
call. By then I was sort of
feeling hungry, but I think it
was more anticipation of what I
would be eating rather than a
strong desire for it. My dinner
started with one of those
chicken tikka samosas I was
saying good things about a week
or so ago. I munched that, and
although I was eating straight
from the fridge, and so not at
room temperature, which would
have been better, it was still
delicious.
The main course of my
dinner was a Tesco Lamb Rogan
Ghost curry ready meal. The only
bad thing about that is that it
seemed the amount of rice didn't
match the amount of the curry. I
could have left nearly a quarter
of the rice, but the meal seemed
small enough that I did not want
to waste a single grain. I
followed that with a dessert,
and it was a bigger portion than
was good for me. It was some
vanilla ice cream from a 2 litre
tub. It had been in the freezer
for weeks, and I had originally
started to eat it in quite small
portions, but with three
quarters gone I just carried on
until the tub was empty.
TV was not terribly good
last night. I think I listened
to a lot of an Eagles concert on
Sky Arts. It was too boring to
watch, and some songs were too
boring to even listen to. Shame
really because they did release
several good tunes in their
time. I also part watched a
documentary about the making of
Fleetwood Mac's Rumour album.
Sky Arts have shown a lot of
Fleetwood Mac recently, and BBC1
has also shown lots just a
couple of weeks ago. Last
light's documentary just seemed
to the same as another recently
screened, but it was edited in a
different order. Once again I
mostly listened to it.
I was in bed, and reading
very soon after 9pm, and I think
I was possibly asleep by 9.30pm,
but it could have been 10.30pm.
I was not really pay much
attention to the clock. I seemed
to sleep really well, although
in the first half of my sleep I
was probably up peeing a bit
more often than usual because of
the high sugar content of the
ice cream I ate - and ate later
in the evening than I might have
done.
I can only recall one bit
of insomnia - if about 15
minutes can really be called
insomnia. I would not disagree
if anyone said I was probably
dreaming that I was awake in bed
for a short period of time. I
can't seem to remember clearly
much about the night. I didn't
make measurements, and I didn't
keep notes, but I feel I
possibly peed a bit more than
usual. I can barely even
remember dreaming, and
definitely no details of any
dream.
I got up at about 6.20am
this morning, and of course the
first thing I did was to go for
a pee. It felt like I was going
to poo as well, but like a lot
of mornings it was just wind,
although I did have a poo later
on, albeit not a large one. I
have a feeling that even in the
night I was thinking that the
extra peeing could mean a bit of
weight loss, and I was right. A
very small amount can be
attributed to missing a meal,
and any snacks during the day,
but most of it was fluid loss.
That was also quite good because
my left leg was looking a bit
puffy from fluid retention. The
scales said I lost 900gm in the
last 24 hours. If I can manage
another 500gm, which is not
unusual (although it is rarely
permanent) I could see myself
visiting a whole number of
Kilogrammes I have not seen for
years !
While I lost a lot of
weight, be effect of eating the
ice cream in the evening could
easily be seen in my blood
glucose readings. Although
having said that, the readings
were not super high, but just on
the high side of typical. The
Contour meter read 8.6mmol/l.
and the GlucoRX meter agreed
with that figure exactly. The
Sinocare meter was typically
higher, but 8.9mmol/l is not a
lot higher, and is still just
about acceptable.
My blood pressure was
still it's typical "Optimum"
with a reading of 101/47,
although my pulse rate was a bit
higher than usual at 58 BPM. I
don't think that is of any
significance. It may just be
that I seem to be running late
now when I have things to do -
like finishing the laundry that
is still in it's final rinse
water in the big bucket in the
bathtub. One delay this morning
is that I found my web server
dead when I came to write this.
It is suggesting it is not
plugged in to AC power, and it
has used up the remaining 15
minute of life from the old and
decrepit battery. The diagnostic
says the power supply is not
plugged in, but is still
providing full power. I think
something very weird is going on
in the power monitoring
circuits. It could be time to
get the replacement server,
which I have had ready in kit
form for a few years now,
finished and turned on.
One original plan I had
to today was to go for a short
walk in the sunshine once I have
washed my hair, and had a
shower. I may still do so if I
have the time, but it will have
to be a short walk because Jodie
will be over for some beer
tasting this afternoon. I am
fairly certain we will not see
Michael today. He knows we do
another session on a Sunday, but
he usually spends some time with
his family on a Sunday.
