My
Electronic Diary For March 2025 |
Monday 31st March 2025 |
05:05 BST
Yesterday was bright and sunny, and it was warm. The afternoon temperature rose to 16° C, and in direct sunshine it felt like summer ! It did cool down to as low as 7° C in the small hours of this morning. ![]() This morning has started
out bright and sunny again, but it is currently
just 6° C. Once again it should warm up to 16° C
after non stop sunshine. Tomorrow should also see
full sunshine all day, but it may only warm up to
just 14° C.
After the really miserable day on Saturday, yesterday seemed to start with some sort of strange optimism. That was odd considering how bad my blood glucose was, and the need to do something about it. Fortunately the sunshine came as a saviour, and most of the day was fine. It is a shame that last night was a disaster ! My day is described, with some pictures, and my disaster of a night, and this morning is also described in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 30th March 2025 |
09:09 BST
Yesterday was bright and sunny. It wasn't fully warm, but it seemed warm enough to go out without a coat - provided you mainly stayed in the sunshine, and didn't stop for too long. By 2pm the temperature rose to 14° C, and it only fell to 10° C by midnight. ![]() This morning has started
out bright and sunny, but it seems some clouds may
only allow sunny spells for a couple of hours, but
there should/could be full sunshine from midday.
That should push the temperature up to a pleasant
16° C. Tonight may be a bit cooler than last
night. Tomorrow may start as low as just 6° C, but
more bright sunshine should get it up to 16° C
again by 3pm. There should be at least another
week of warm dry weather after this.
Yesterday started off fine, and it should have been a good day, but by about midday it all went wrong, and yesterday was mostly a fairly miserable sort of day. I was feeling very negative for the afternoon and evening, and that would have consequences that threaten to spoil today. I have tried to describe the worst of it, plus the usual notes about my sleep (which was probably good) and this morning, all in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 29th March 2025 |
08:40 GMT
Yesterday's weather was tricky to describe. The weather forecast was not quite right....but bits of it were right ! There was certainly a fair bit of rain in the morning, but even when that was over the clouds remained almost black for a few hours when the sun was supposed to have come out. The clouds did eventually break up and thin. The afternoon was mostly sunny, but there was one time when it got very cloudy again for maybe an hour. The forecast said the temperature might peak at 14° C at around 2pm. I think that was close enough to reality. ![]() This morning has started
out bright and sunny, but there are still some
hazy clouds to be seen, and they may spoil the
partial eclipse of the sun this morning. The first
bite out of the sun should happen at 10am, and at
11am the moon will cover about half the sun. By
midday it will all be over. By that time the
temperature should have risen to 12° C , and by
2pm the temperature should peak at 14° C, and if
reality matches the forecast it should stay that
high for 3 hours before it cools off a bit. The
sunshine should continue until sunset, and the
night may only cool off to 10° C. At 2am (or
is it 1am ?) the clocks change from GMT to BST,
and the sun will rise later, and set later (by
local time). Tomorrow should be warm and bright
with the temperature reaching a pleasant 16° C.
The almost black clouds, yesterday morning, stymied my possible enthusiasm to possibly go for a walk yesterday. Later on it would have been very nice walking weather, but that bad start left me very mildly depressed. Later I would get some good news, and that cheered me up a lot. That good news, and the rest of yesterday, plus the usual notes about my sleep, and this morning, are all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Friday 28th March 2025 |
09:17 GMT
Yesterday was generally warm and sunny. The temperature was only forecast to rise by the BBC to 17° C, but I think the met Office said 18° C, and it may have peaked at that for at least a single hour. ![]() We are definitely taking
a break from warm sunny days today. We have
already had what seemed to be quite a heavy fall
of rain, judging by the size of some puddles I can
see outside, and there could be more rain before
the clouds start to break up. I must admit that
when I look outside, at an almost black sky, it
seems unlikely that we will have sunny spells this
afternoon, but that is what the forecast shows. It
is possible that the temperature will reach 14° C
for a single hour at 2pm. Clear skies tonight mean
that tomorrow may start rather cold, maybe just 4°
C, but strong sunshine should warm the day up to
14° C by early afternoon. Tomorrow could be the
start of a 6 day run of fine warm weather.
I think I can describe yesterday as a good day, or it was most of the time. Two things spoiled it a bit, although the worst of the second thing possibly peaked after midnight. On second thoughts, maybe yesterday's beer tasting session was not one of the better ones. I think I have described all this, plus the take of a terrible night, but semi-OK morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday 27th March 2025 |
08:36 GMT
It took some time for the sunny spells to get going, lengthen, and turn into non stop sunshine yesterday, and it was all rather nice from about midday onwards. The temperature reached 16° C, and possibly a degree or two more. It was very comfortable shirt sleeve weather in the afternoon, and maybe good enough from as early as 11am. ![]() There is some patchy
thin cloud in the sky at the moment, but I don't
think the sunshine has dipped in the last hour or
so. The BBC forecast says there should only be
sunny spells until midday, but the Met Office says
full sunshine until 4pm when it will change to
sunny spells. Both forecasters now agree that this
afternoon will see 17° C, but the Met Office
forecast at 6am said that 3pm would be 18° C.
Tomorrow will start with light rain, but the
afternoon should be dry with sunny spells, and an
afternoon temperature of only 13° C. If the longer
range forecast can be believed, the day after
tomorrow starts a 9 day run of sunny weather.
Yesterday was rather a good day. Of course there were also a few negative things, but they didn't seem to spoil the day. They seem to have spoiled this morning a bit, but I'll get to that in due course. The first good thing yesterday was starting to write quite early compared to many days. The best bits of my day are described along with noted about my night and dreams, plus notes about this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Wednesday 26th March 2025 |
08:03 GMT
The forecast sunshine arrived late yesterday morning, and 2 or 3 hours it clouded over again, and that was it. The afternoon temperature reached the forecast 13° C. What wasn't in the forecast was that the afternoon featured light rain, and it became quite damp outside. ![]() The forecast for today
has been toned down a lot compared to what was
expected a day or two ago. Mostly all the sunshine
has changed to sunny intervals, and even worse is
that at 8:22am I am still waiting for the first
sunny spell/interval. Hopefully it will brighten
up soon or the forecast 16° C is not going to feel
like t-shirt weather when I go to the pub at
lunchtime. Tomorrow may start with fog, but it may
lift quite quickly to give a day that may feature
a lot of sunshine - some as sunny intervals, but
many hours of pure sunshine. It should take the
temperature up to 17° C.
When the sun finally broke through the cloud, yesterday morning, it sort of enthused me to try and be a bit more productive yesterday. The fact that the sunny weather didn't even make it to midday (and if I recall correctly, not even to 11am) didn't remove all enthusiasm, but I didn't do that much. What I did do, and other stuff, plus note about my sleep and dreams, and about this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Tuesday 25th March 2025 |
08:18 GMT
Yesterday started off cold, grey and miserable. I think it may have even been at the forecast time of 11am when the clouds started to break up, and the first sunshine appeared. It was not until 4pm when the sky was almost completely clear, and we had stong sunshine, but it still seemed nice earlier in the afternoon, particularly compared to the morning. The afternoon temperature reached the forecast 14° C - not hot, but fairly pleasant. ![]() The sun broke through
the misty sky not that long ago, and so over an
hour late according to the forecast. Incidently,
the Met Office forecast predicted mist until after
9am. We may get full sunshine for a few hours, and
then some sunny spells before it clouds over to
give a dull and miserable day. The clouds could be
black by 3pm, but at least the temperature should
rise to 13° C from midday to sunset. Under a black
sky that is definitely not t-shirt weather !
Tomorrow is not going to be as good as was
forecast a day or two ago. Today the forecast says
it will be a bit dull until 11am when we should
hopefully get sunny spells. It could be 13° C, but
it should warm up to 16° C, and that is definitely
t-shirt weather even if most of the afternoon may
only see sunny spells. At 6pm, just before the sun
sets there could be full sunshine. The forecast a
day or two said that there would be full sunshine
from late morning. I wonder if tomorrow forecast
will make tomorrow look even worse ?
Yesterday was one of those days when the dull and horrible looking weather sapped any idea of doing anything useful, or almost anything at all. I did do a few things, but nothing that was that newsworthy. I might have more to say, when I get there, about my sleep than most of yesterday. My day, such as it was, plus my night, including part of a dream, and stuff that has happened this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Monday 24th March 2025 |
08:02 GMT
Once again the BBC weather forecast predicted thunderstorms, and long periods of rain for yesterday. The day started off dry but grey, and then the grey became darker and some rain seemed like it might be possible. There was definitely no thunderstorms, and no rain until about 6pm when there was a brief sprinkle of rain. Later on there was probably a bit of drizzle, but once it was dark I didn't really keep an eye on what was happening outside. I think the afternoon temperature did reach the forecast 15° C. ![]() It is a grey morning,
but the road looks dry outside, and so there
couldn't have been much rain during the night. The
whole of today should be dry, and by 11am we
should (may) start getting some sunny spells
leading up to full sunshine from 4pm until sunset.
It should take the temperature up to 14° C by 2pm.
Tomorrow will probably start fairly cold at around
6° C, but there should be full sunshine until 10am
or 11am, but then it will cloud over. from 2pm
they may be black clouds. No rain is actually
shown, but the chances of rain at 5pm reach 25%.
The afternoon temperature should reach just 13° C.
Unless things change, I expected to be out on
Wednesday in full sunshine and maybe 16° C -
t-shirt weather again, but maybe only for one
single day.
After my very late night, and lack of sleep the previous night, yesterday got off to a very slow start. I had earlier thought I might do stuff around dinner time, but after writing I just laid on my bed and read and snoozed until I had to force myself to do stuff. There was not much to describe, but my day, night, and also this morning, is described in my complete archived page for today. |
Sunday 23rd March 2025 |
09:17 GMT
The forecast for yesterday said there would be zero sunshine, and there would be thunder storms all afternoon. They almost got the no sunshine right, and what sunny spells we did have didn't last long. The funny thing was that the best sunny spells seemed to happen when there were supposed to by thunderstorms. I don't recall seeing a single drop of rain all day long. It was almost a nice day with an afternoon temperature of 15° C. Had I known what the weather would have really been like I might have gone out for a short walk in the afternoon instead staying in and moping. ![]() Once again the BBC
predict some thunderstorms today, but once again
the Met Office forecast only predicts some light
showers, albeit from a grey sky that will probably
be grey all day long. It was an almost warm night,
and this morning started at 11° C, and the
temperature should rise to 15° C. That would feel
fairly nice if it was sunny, and the way the
forecast has been getting things wrong recently, I
don't rule out seeing some sunshine this
afternoon. Tomorrow may start with almost black
clouds. but the rest of the day should be
brighter, and there could even be several hours of
full sunshine. It may only reach 14° C by late
afternoon, but even that could be t-shirt weather
if the wind is not too strong.
Yesterday was another day when I could not raise any enthusiasm to do anything. It was really quite boring, and there wasn't even the excitement of any thunder and lightning - as the weather forecast predicted. With no distractions I part lost control of my eating. As usual, my day, such as it was, plus my night, and this morning is all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 22nd March 2025 |
09:10 GMT
Yesterday was a lot duller than the forecast predicted. In fact I can recall hardly any sunshine (including sunny spells) yesterday. I think it did warm up to the predicted 17° C, but it never seemed to feel warm. ![]() The thing that is most
interesting about today is the forecast thundery
showers. The Met Office just says light rain for
similar hours, and the latest revision to the BBC
forecast (as above) now shows light rain for 1pm.
Another difference is the BBC say a high of 15° C,
and the Met Office say 17° C. It will be
interesting to see who comes closer to
reality. Tomorrow is supposed to start with
several hours of mist. That is possible, but
somehow I doubt it. The rest of the day may be
dull with rain later in the afternoon, and the
temperature may rise to between 15° C and 17° C,
Yesterday could have been dull, boring and depressing. It was just the first two. The dullness creeping through my window sapped and enthusiasm for anything at all. I hardly did anything all day long, but somehow the day seemed to slip by quite smoothly. I have described anything I can about yesterday, plus added some notes about my night, dreams, and also this morning in my complete archived page for today. |
Friday 21st March 2025 |
08:28 GMT
It is reported that yesterday was the warmest day of the year - so far. The temperature rose to 18° C, and possibly a tiny bit higher. There were a few times when small clouds blocked or attenuated the sunshine, but there was a lot of strong sunshine for a lot of the daylight hours. By midnight the temperature only dropped to about 11° C. ![]() Today may not be too
bad. It is trying to be sunny as I type this, but
that does match the forecast which says only sunny
spells until three hours of full sunshine from
11am. The temperature may only peak at 17° C, but
that is still pretty good. It all goes wrong at
7pm when it clouds over and starts to rain - maybe
the start of another three rainy days. Tonight
should still be quite mild, and tomorrow should
start at 11° C, but it will only rise to 15° C.
From 10am it will probably rain, and the rain may
not stop until after 3pm. There could then be a
few hours of sunny spells.
Yesterday was rather a good day. I seemed to achieve stuff I was not sure I could achieve - at least not without causing later problems with things like aching muscles. It was all because it was warm, and mostly sunny. One problem is that the sun is still not high enough in the sky to light up more than a bit of my back garden. The rest of yesterday, plus notes about my sleep and dreams, plus notes about this morning, can all be read in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday 20th March 2025 |
07:56 GMT
Yesterday was almost more lovely and sunny than the day before. The temperature rose to 16° C, and that felt good, but just when it should have felt really good, during the afternoon, it started getting cloudy. It still remained bright, but the sunshine often became weak and hazy. The temperature did not fall very far in the night, and it was still 9° C at midnight. ![]() This morning started at
around 8° C, and if we are lucky the blue sky and
sunshine will drive the temperature up to 18° C,
or 20° C according to the Met Office forecast. Yet
another day for bare arms when outdoors. It should
be a clear night, but the temperature will not
drop far, and tomorrow could start at 10° C, Once
again there will be plenty of sunshine, but
apparently the temperature may only rise to 17° C.
It will start to cloud over by 5pm, and a couple
of hours later it will start to rain, and this
very pleasant warm and sunny spell will be over
for the rest of the month, and maybe the start of
next month.
Yesterday was generally a good day, but also another tiring day, and it was rather spoiled by my lower legs and ankles complaining after walking for fairly short distances. I am so glad that I can get the train to go to The Jolly Farmers. It does not reduce the amount of walking much, but it does give a break in the middle. My day is almost completely described in my Complete archived page for today, and it includes the usual notes about my night and this morning. |
Wednesday 19th March 2025 |
07:48 GMT
Yesterday was lovely and sunny. The temperature rose to 9° C, and when out of the wind, but in the sunshine, it felt very nice, but the wind seemed to be very chilling when caught in the open. ![]() It was cold enough for a
frost this morning, and at 7am my thermometers
said it was still only 2° C. Apart from 4pm, which
may feature only sunny spells, there should be
strong sunshine today. The forecast says the
temperature should rise to 16° C this afternoon.
The wind should be light, and coming from a warm
direction. It should be good enough to go out with
bare arms today. It may not cool off too much
tonight, and tomorrow is forecast to start at 8°
C. A mix of sunny spells and sunshine may raise
the temperature to 18° C this afternoon. Once
again the temperature may not fall too far
tomorrow might, and Friday may have reasonable
weather before a lousy looking Saturday.
Yesterday was a very tiring day, but it was a good day, and I think I achieved all but one thing I hoped to do. That was to ride on a class 701 train, but at least I did see one in service. Even what I thought was some rash eating decisions turned out not too bad. My day is described, and illustrated with a few of the photos I took, plus there are notes about my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Tuesday 18th March 2025 |
07:58 GMT
Yesterday weather could be described as grim ! It may have been 9° C, but I felt cold - even in doors, and I had to burn a lot of electricity to stay warm. All because it was so cold and grey out. ![]() It looked like there was
a frost on some cars this morning, but it might
have just been condensation. 3° C at 7am does seem
cold enough for from, although it is still bloody
cold ! Today should feature non stop sunshine all
day, but the temperature may still not rise above
9° C. However the Met Office forecast does say a
possible 11° C. Tonight will be another cold night
thanks to continuing clear skies. Tomorrow may
start at 3° C again, but another day of sunshine
may push the temperature up to a rather nice 15°
C - definitely t-shirt weather ! It may
cloud over tomorrow night and the night will not
get so cold. Although it is pointless to think any
forecast more than 5 hours ahead may contain any
truth, let's hope the forecast for the day after
tomorrow is correct, because it is currently
saying it could reach 17° C !
Yesterday was a bit of good and a lot of bad. Going to Tesco was good, but I wore the wrong shoes. A grey and boring afternoon was bad. Also bad was my nose frequently dripping, and feeling like I should have been able to fall fast asleep every time I laid down, but didn't. The full description of my day, or what I can remember or describe, plus notes about my sleep and this morning, is all written in my complete archived page for today. |
Monday 17th March 2025 |
07:45 GMT
Yesterday did feature sunshine in the morning, but I'm sure that turned to sunny spells before midday, and also did not seem to last into the afternoon. While the morning may have felt bright and cheery when indoors, it was not that nice outside. The afternoon temperature probably did go as high as 9° C, but it still felt cold. The thickening clouds stopped the temperature dropping too far at night. ![]() The Met Office forecast
shows very grey clouds for this morning. The BBC
forecast (shown above) shows white cloud. I think
reality is somewhere between the two. At about
7.40am we came very close to a sunny spell, and it
seemed the cloud was not that thick. The
temperature, without the aid of sunshine, could
peak, for a single hour, 2pm, at 9° C. Then we may
get a sunny spells, but the temperature will still
fall back to 8° C. Like yesterday, the night
temperature may only fall as low as 5° C. Tomorrow
morning may start at 3° C, but it is currently
shown as a sunny day, and all the sunshine could
warm it up to 9° C for most of the afternoon. The
wind will be from the west, and may feel quite
gentle.
Yesterday was mostly good, although the aftermath of it is not very good at all. The best and worst part would have been the afternoon drinking, and yet I feel I can only blame some of my woes on that. In fact I am not sure what to blame the worst of my woes on. My best attempt at an explanation of all these mixed ideas can be read in my complete archived page for today. It also includes notes about sleep and dreams, and how bad things are this morning. |
Sunday 16th March 2025 |
08:21 GMT
Yesterday did feature sunny spells, as the weather forecast promised, but they were not good sunny spells - and I define good as helping keep my front rooms warm. From a frost in the morning it did warm up to 8° C, but it still felt very cold, and it was not helped by the strong breeze from the north. Once again the temperature plunged low enough at night for a frost this morning. ![]() So far the forecast for
today has got off to a good start. It was cold
enough for a frost (1° C) and as I type the
sunshine is streaming through my front windows. It
has started as full sunshine, but by midday it
might only be sunny spells. That should be good
enough for the temperature to reach 9° C, and keep
it there for three hours. The breeze is starting
to move around and come from the north east, and
so will still be a bit chilly. Tonight should not
be as cold as last night. Tomorrow may start
at 5° C, but no sunshine until some sunny spells
later in the afternoon, means that tomorrow may
only see 8° C.
I think I have to resort to that old school teachers trick when they can't think of anything negative or positive to say about a schoolboy - yesterday was "satisfactory". Actually there are not any real negatives, and at least one positive. I guess my diet control was not that bad either. My day, and my night and dreams, plus my morning are all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Saturday 15th March 2025 |
08:44 GMT
The sun did eventually penetrate the clouds, and we had some sunny periods, maybe even sunny spells, but they didn't seem good enough to reduce my heating bill. The afternoon temperature was most probably what was forecast - just 8° C. Last night didn't get quite as cold as the night before, but freezing cold is not a lot different to icy cold ! ![]() The forecast for today
looks very similar to yesterday. The morning
temperature may be a single degree higher, but the
temperature at midnight may be a single degree
cooler, but the afternoon will still only be 8° C.
It is quite cloudy as I write this, but the sun
was out for 5 or 10 minutes (but has just gone in
again). We should get more sunny spells through
the day, and even full sunshine just as the sun
dips below the horizon. So maybe bright and
cheerful looking, but without a bit more warmth,
nothing to get excited about. Tomorrow could be a
bit worse than today, although it may be a bit
less cold at midnight tomorrow.
I think I can finally say that yesterday was not such a bad day, although I don't think I could bring myself to say it was a good day - maybe a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. It did get off to a good start based on my health indicators, blood glucose, blood pressure, and even weight. My day is described along with some notes about my night, and this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |
Friday 14th March 2025 |
08:34 GMT
Yesterday was cold and wet ! The day started with drizzle - which did not appear in the weather forecast, although drizzle was shown for a little bit later. It may have then been dry until about midday, and then the tendency to rain got more and more likely. I think it was just before 3pm that I thought I heard some distant thunder. It may have been something else, but what happened half an hour later suggested not. We had a sudden very heavy fall of hail for 5 minutes or so, and then it reverted to moderately heavy ordinary rain. By about 6pm the rain had stopped, but we didn't see any sunny spells as shown in the forecast. The afternoon temperature was just a very cold feeling 7° C. ![]() We should be having
sunny spells right now, but so far the sun has not
managed to penetrate the clouds, although I cans
ee a quite bright area of cloud where the sun
should be. This morning it was cold enough for a
frost on the cars outside in the road, but today
may be warmer then yesterday - by a single
degree ! 8° C is forecast to be the
afternoon temperature. No rain is shown for today,
and the percent chances of it are very small, and
it is still possible that we could get some sunny
spells later. Tomorrow may be almost the same as
today, but the early morning may not be quite cold
enough for frost, and 5 and 6pm are shown as
featuring full sunshine.
I have no idea how to describe yesterday. I could grudgingly say that it was a fairly good day, or maybe "it had it's moments", but perhaps I am too pessimistic because I definitely improved my health with the results coming in this morning. Whether is was overall good or not so good, I have described yesterday, plus last night, and some of this morning, more fully in my complete archived page for today. |
Thursday 13th March 2025 |
09:43 GMT
Yesterday was cold with some sunny spells, but also one quite heavy downfall of rain. Some lighter rain was forecast for midday and 1pm, and I think there was some drizzle then. The heavy rain didn't last more than 10 minutes, and happened shortly before sunset. The forecast said the temperature might briefly peak at 8° C, and maybe it did, but most of the afternoon was just 7° C. ![]() Today was said to be
another day like yesterday on the BBC news last
night, but this morning has started with some
drizzle, and yesterday didn't. The whole afternoon
is forecast to feature light rain, and that is
more then yesterday. The ends of the day were only
a degree or two above a frost, and this afternoon
is forecast to be just 7° C, and nothing higher.
Tomorrow may be brighter, and ultimately a bit
warmer with 9° C in the afternoon, but the morning
may be low enough for a frost, and just 3° C by
midnight. It looks like we will have to wait until
next Tuesday for a moderately nice day.
Apart from writing yesterday's piece, I did almost nothing while waiting to see if the Amazon order that was not delivered the day before would be delivered yesterday. Once that was confirmed I still did very little. I think the recent change in the weather left me feeling very low. Curiously I seem to have had a lot to say about a day where it seemed I did little. That is described, along with stuff about an awful night, and it all affected this morning, in my full archived page for today. |
Wednesday 12th March 2025 |
08:37 GMT
Yesterday was brighter than the forecast suggested. There were quite a few brief sunny spells when none were shown on the forecast. From mid afternoon there were forecast sunny spells, and they lasted longer. For all that it was still a nasty cold day with the temperature only reaching about 9° C. During the evening the temperature dropped even further. ![]() This morning has, to my
surprise, started at about 5° C. Unfortunately I
am still waiting to see the first sunny spell. I
can see a bright patch of sky where the sun should
be. I suspect we are caught between two weather
systems, and that is why the forecast for today
has changed several times in the last 24 hours.
Having said that, I can see lots of blue sky, but
it is all in the wrong place for any sunny spells.
The one feature about today that is probably
correct is that apart from possibly a brief spell
at 8° C, most of the afternoon will only be 7° C.
The other thing is that it could be a very cold
night. Tomorrow is shown as an all grey day with a
top temperature of just 7° C. No actual rain is
shown, but the chances of rain seem as high as 29%
some times. I don't think I like this reversion to
almost wintry weather.
Yesterday got off to a good start, but the day slowly deteriorated. It ended up quite miserable. It is likely to have knock on effects today. As I typed that the sun broke through for the first cheerful sunny spell - only an hour late according to the forecast. It has already faded out ! My day, as well as night, plus this morning, is all described in my complete archived page for today. |
Tuesday 11th March 2025 |
08:34 GMT
The weather forecast for yesterday did get one thing right - in the midst of a very grey day there was a 10 minute sunny spell at midday ! It was quite mild yesterday with the temperature also forecast almost correctly with a high of 14° C. The only problem is that the grey light outside seemed to suck any warmth away and it felt like a cold day. ![]() The weather continues to
deteriorate. Today is going to be a bit chilly
with only a maximum of 9° C for a couple of hours.
There was almost a sunny spell around 8am when the
sun was trying to peep through a small gap in the
grey clouds. The forecasts say there could be
sunny spells from mid afternoon until sunset a few
hours later. The good news is that tomorrow will
merely be not nice. Earlier forecasts pained a
thoroughly nasty day. Tomorrow may now be a lot
drier with just a light sprinkle at 10am. There
might be a few sunny spells, but a maximum
temperature of 8° C will still feel a bit
winterish. That forecast has changed a lot in 24
hours, and reality could be very different still
when tomorrow arrives.
Yesterday could almost be described as a depressing day, and it was definitely made worse by the short spell of weak sunshine at midday. It made me feel annoyed that I was not ready to put on a light coat at a moments notice, and have a short frolic in the sunshine. Sadly it would have been a rather brief frolic if I had gone for one. I had quite a boring day, and it is all described, along with notes about my sleep and dreams, and about this morning, in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was lovely. There were times when some thin cloud would weaken the sunshine, and make it seem hazy, but generally it was wonderful shirt sleeve weather. The afternoon temperature reached 17° C, and it didn't cool down too far at night, maybe still 9° C by midnight. ![]() Sadly we have returned
to poorer weather, and it will get worse before it
gets better. The BBC forecast (above) says there
should be sunny spells now, but it is no sign of
the sun, and it looks a monochrome light grey
outside. The Met Office forecast seems to be
correct by adding some light mist as well as
cloudy skies. It may not even stay dry today. The
BBC forecast says light rain for just 4pm, but I
note the ground is slightly damp from some rain in
the early hours, and the Met Office forecast
suggests drizzle quite a few times during the day.
There is even some debate about the afternoon
temperature - The BBC says 14° C, and the Met
Office say just 12° C. Neither are terribly bad,
but I definitely think a coat is needed if I go
out. Tomorrow it just gets worse - mostly grey
with a couple of sunny spells possible, and the
warmest it could be will be 9° C for maybe just a
single hour. The day after tomorrow will probably
be colder and wetter.
Yesterday was a very busy day by my standards. Before I could do anything else I had to get my web server up and running to serve these pages. That was just the start, but there were many other things I did, and I didn't really get to rest until after dinner time. The rest of my day includes some pictures taken yesterday, and my day, night and this morning are described in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was another warm day. The sun seemed to shine all day, and the temperature probably hit the forecast 16° C, but I can't be too sure about it, or what it was like outside because of reasons I'll explain in the main text of today's electronic diary. ![]() Today is going to be a
very sunny day, and the temperature should peak at
a very nice 17° C. Tomorrow may see lots of
sunny spells, but no non-stop sunshine. The
temperature should still rise to a good enough 15°
C. After tomorrow we revert to poor and/or nasty
weather - cold and grey days, and some days will
feature rain !
Yesterday was a very different day to anything I might have expected. My morning was typical - I wrote 2,593 words here, and then I had a rest. After the rest I was getting myself psyched up to finish the laundry I had almost, but not quite finished the day before, and also looking forward to some lunch. Then the phone rang...... The significance of that statement is explained together with notes about the rest my day, my night, and also this morning in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday was another warm day, but it was not always sunny. Quite a bit of the afternoon featured a thin cover of cloud, but not so thing as to let any significant amounts of sunshine through (and usually, none at all). The forecast prediction of any afternoon high of 15° C was right right. The temperature slowly dropped from mid afternoon, and was down to 11° C by midnight, and it slowly kept dropping after that. ![]() I think this morning
started a degree or two less than the 8° C shown
on the forecast. As I write this I think it has
warmed up to 10° C - still a degree short of the
forecast. It is lovely and sunny now, and it
should remain so all day long. There is still a
chance we will see 16° C this afternoon. Tomorrow
could be almost identical to today, but we could
see 17° C in the afternoon. Tomorrow night may be
a little cooler as we start to lose the lovely
weather. The day after tomorrow may be reasonable,
but it currently looks like a long string of days
that take us back to February weather.
Yesterday was a mostly good day, but less productive than I hoped for, and there were some negative things during the day. Overall I guess I probably enjoyed most of the day to some extent. Yesterday was the day that Angela went to see the oncologist to get the results of her PET scan, and to find if her cancer treatment had worked. News of that, but a description of most of my day, last night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

09:41 GMT
Yesterday was another warm and sunny day. The forecast predicted a high of 14° C, and I think that was right. The main novelty is that it didn't cool down much in the evening, and we had a very mild night. ![]() Today promises to be
even warmer with the temperature hitting 15° C for
most of the afternoon. There should be very little
wind, and that 15° C could feel very warm in the
sunshine. Tomorrow should be very similar to
today, but it will be a little cooler tonight, and
so tomorrow may start at 8° C, but even that is
not too bad.
Yesterday was a good day until it became bad, and it was mostly my own fault. I had a little run in with indigestion, but I will explain that, as best I can, a bit later. It was also a mostly a lazy day, but I did go out to get some shopping, and I did finally wash up every last item that had been waiting for me in the kitchen sink ! The full description of yesterday, last night, and also this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

08:30 GMT
Yesterday was a splendid day. The sun was shining all day, and the temperature probably hit the forecast 13° C (or if not that, then definitely 12° C). To help things along there was very little wind. ![]() Today should almost be a
repeat of yesterday's weather, but with one useful
difference. Today started off several degrees
warmer, and so it should warm up to the predicted
high of 14° C earlier. It is worth noting that The
met Office predict a high of 16° C today ! Now
that would definitely feel nice and warm ! The
temperature is not going to fall much tonight
despite the sky staying clear for a lot of the
night, but it will start to get cloudy before
sunrise tomorrow. It should mean that tomorrow
could start at 11° C, but that same cloud will
mean mostly sunny spells instead of sunshine, and
the afternoon high will still only be 14° C.
Saturday and Sunday may see clear skies again, and
the temperature maybe peaking at 15° C.
In terms of the weather, yesterday was a splendid day, but there were a few non weather things that spoiled the day a bit - mostly the current state of my health. One of the great things was being able to get out into the sunshine with bare arms. After just a few exposures they are looking less pasty now. All this is more fully explained, along with notes about my sleep and this morning in my complete archived page for today. |

08:54 GMT
Yesterday was a very nice day, although not quite as good a day as the forecast predicted. It took longer for the temperature to reach 10° C than forecast, and I am a bit unsure if it did reach the forecast high of 12° C, but it definitely reached 11° C. It was almost a cloudless day, and that meant the temperature fell quickly after sunset. ![]() I am not positive about
it, but I believe there was some frost around
sunrise, but the forecast says it was 2° C at 7am.
The Met Office forecast said it would be misty,
but it seemed clear to me. Today should be much
like yesterday, except that a high of 13° C is
forecast. Maybe it will even warm up a bit quicker
then yesterday. The temperature is forecast not to
drop too low tonight. The forecast says it will be
7° C at sunrise, and the afternoon could reach 14°
C after another day of golden sunshine. The day
after tomorrow could start damp and murky, but the
afternoon may still see sunny spells.
Things never seem to be clear cut these days. Yesterday was good and bad again, although the bad wasn't quite that bad, and the good was fairly good. The important thing is that it was a bright and cheerful day - except for the pain. I'll explain all further down the page. The full account of my day, as well as my night, and this morning, can be read in my complete archived page for today. |

Yesterday started started off with a frost again, but non stop sunshine slowly warm things up to 10° C (the claimed on TV that it reached 11° C. In my front rooms, with the sun shining through the south facing windows, the temperature rose to over 20° C, which was very nice. ![]() The screenshot above
starts at 8am, but earlier than that it was cold
enough to leave a frost on things like cars
outside. Today could be an improved version of
yesterday with the afternoon temperature rising to
12° C.That should be bare arm temperature. It will
be another cold night, but maybe not quite cold
enough for another frosty start. It is possible
tomorrow may see and afternoon temperature of 13°
C, and it will probably not get so cold in the
night. This run of good weather should last until
the 11th March when it may be back to grey skies
and rain for a week or more.
Yesterday, by some measures, was a good day in so much as I achieved my main aim. However, there was a lot of the day that were not so good. Then again they were not actually bad. I'm not sure any bit was actually bad. It was also a day where some things happened that were not expected, and some others didn't happen. This is all explained in a bit more detail in my complete archived page for today, and which also includes good news about my night and this morning. |

09:04 GMT
Yesterday started with quite a thick fog, and it took longer than forecast to thin out, and then go. After that I think we went straight to warm sunshine, and I think it was more sunshine than sunny spells until sunset. For all that the temperature still only reached 9° C, and that may have only been for a single hour. After sunset the temperature dropped fast, and by midnight it was just 3° C. ![]() There may have been no
mist or fog this morning, but the day did start
with a thick frost, and once the sun had risen,
glorious sunshine. The sky is forecast to stay
clear all day long, and all the sunshine will
raise the temperature to 10° C. Once again, clear
skies will mean the temperature is going to
plummet after sunset, and tomorrow will start with
another frost. Once again it is going to be a
sunny day, and tomorrow afternoon may see 11° C.
Yesterday was good in parts, often "satisfactory", and towards the end of the day, very bad ! It was a day to take advantage of the bright sunshine, and I did in a way. I had a very lazy morning, and even a bit of the afternoon lazing on my bed reading while the sun was trying to dazzle me. My day, my terrible night, and the consequences this morning are all described in my complete archived page for today. |

What I said yesterday morning - A bit warmer, particularly in the morning, would have made yesterday a better day. Lots of sunshine made it nice to look at, but a start of just 2° C, and an afternoon high of just 9° C meant it was definitely not t-shirt weather. ![]() It's another day
starting with mist and fog. The mist lasted a bit
longer than forecast. The last seemed to go just
after 10am. Today's high will be 9° C again,
but much of today will only feature sunny spells,
and full sunshine not starting until 4pm -
according to the forecast. As I write this the sky
looks very clear, and the sun has been shining non
stop since it first burned through the last of the
mist. After a very cold night, tomorrow is going
to be a slightly improved version of today. That
improvement may just be several or more hours of
sunny spells today will be replaced by full
sunshine....maybe.
It's a very late start to today for reasons to diverse to fully explain. I didn't get up that late today, but lots of silly things have pre-occupied me - including another failed attempt at getting the zipper back on a zip ! To save time I had probably just write today as a précis of what happened yesterday. Yesterday is briefly described as well as some notes about my sleep and dreams, and things happening today in my complete archived page for today. |

A bit warmer, particularly in the morning, would have made yesterday a better day. Lots of sunshine made it nice to look at, but a start of just 2° C, and an afternoon high of just 9° C meant it was definitely not t-shirt weather. ![]() I'm not sure it was
actually frost this morning. The lowest
temperature I saw when I got up was about 4° C. It
was also a lot like the earlier versions of the
forecast that predicted fog. It wasn't that dense,
but it was definitely fog and not most. I would
say it is misty now, and it could be several more
hours before the sun burns through it. If the rest
of the forecast is correct (and I doubt it) there
will be non stop sunshine for most of the daylight
hours, and a high of 9° C this afternoon. Tomorrow
may start clear, and cold enough for a frost. The
sunny spells, and an hour or so later, non stop
sunshine will still only raise the temperature to
9° C again.
Yesterday was quite a good day, although much of the goodness was the sunshine, but I did do a few worthwhile things, and those were satisfying enough to call it a fairly good day. One bad thing is that I thought I had not controlled my eating as intended, but it seems I did better than I thought. My day, night, and this morning, is described more fully in my complete archived page for today. |
