The
forecast predicted rain for every
hour (except midnight) yesterday,
but the reality was that instead of
what could have been constant light
rain we had a few times when it
really came down, and then an hour
or two before the next rain.
Sometimes it even brightened up
(although the sun only broke through
a few very brief times). It was a
rather cool day with only 16° C
forecast, but maybe it did get a
little higher than that.
7and 8am were dry this morning,
but at 9am it poured. 20 minutes later
and it appears to have stopped, and it
is getting bright outside - but sun
bright. The clouds are probably too
thick to let the sun through until
maybe 2pm and then for the rest of the
day. I think the best that can be said
about this morning is that it might
rain, but maybe it won't. Today should
see a peak of 18° C, and during the
sunny spells that may not feel too bad
if it is not too windy. Tomorrow's
forecast shows rain for nearly all the
day, and some of it may be heavy rain.
Being a BBC forecast they have also
thrown in a few thunderstorms. It will
be a cold day with only 15° C expected
at best.
I described all of yesterday
morning yesterday, and I don't think I
have much to add to that, except, at
the risk of repeating myself, but it
is worth saying it twice because it
was so momentous - Yesterday was the
first time any nurse has ever said
that my blood pressure may be too low
instead of far too high.
I pick up from where I left off
yesterday. I said that I might go to
Tesco in the afternoon, but I was
feeling quite tired, and so I might
just have a mega lazy afternoon doing
just about nothing. I think it got to
just past 2pm and I had had a snooze,
and was feeling a bit restless. I
still felt a bit drained, but decided
I would go to Tesco. Beyond the normal
reason of needing some stuff, I was
also feeling like after submitting my
blood samples, and being weighed by
the nurse, my diet was on holiday.
It definitely seemed cool
enough to need a coat, but it was dry.
I think the walk to Tesco actually
perked me up a bit. I started off
shopping for sensible stuff until I
came to the reduced price shelves. I
found 4 items from the sandwich
department that I wanted. None of them
was particularly healthy in terms of
sugar content, but I felt that didn't
matter for one day. Possibly one silly
purchase was to get some Ciabatta
rolls and some Paninni roles -
particularly when I had two unused
rolls back at home, and of course I
had just put reduced price sandwiches
in my basket.
I didn't manage to get up much
of a pace when walking home, but it
was probably faster than some times in
this half of the year. Once I put the
shopping away I tucked into just two
sandwiches. One was Cajun chicken
inspired, and the other included ham
cheese and chicken. Both had modestly
high amount of sugar. I managed to
resist the temptation to start to eat
the other two things were was a wrap
and a mini sub.
After eating I mainly went back
to reading. I am sure I checked a few
things on the internet as well, but I
didn't do anything productive, and so
fulfilled my prediction of a very lazy
afternoon (and evening). I did have
one naughty snack in the afternoon,
and it was the remains of the bar of
bubbly chocolate that I have been
eating in very small amounts over the
last week or two. Yesterday I just
finished the whole lot, which was as
much as a quarter of the bar.
At this point I am almost
forgetting approximately just before
5pm and just after 6.30pm. There was
no drinking with Jodie this Thursday.
She was heading to Brighton to go to a
gig. However, Michael still came round
for a few beers and a natter about
love and war, booze and food, and
other stuff. It was a much shorter, and
mostly lighter drink than most
Thursdays, but I did squeeze in one 7%
barley Wine. It came from the Adnam's
brewery, and It was disappointing.
I could only watch the second
half of the BBC news - the local news
for the London Area. Towards the end
of of it I had part one of my dinner.
It was actually a calories controlled
ready meal from Tesco - chicken in a
mushroom sauce with green beans and
new potatoes. It was the second or
third one I have had because it is
convenient, but they are not as nice
as the picture on the box make you
think they should be.
After the news I half watched
Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek:
Deep Space Nine. Neither was that
good, but nor were they too bad. At
9pm I started to watch QI, but within
minutes I realised it could not have
been all that long ago that I last
watched that episode. I turned it off
and went to bed to read for a while.
It turned out to be a lot longer than
"a while" before I was fast asleep.
I think it was around 10pm when
my spare phone, recently topped up
with 5GB of data allowance (for £6)
made a bleep to attract my attention.
I am not totally sure what it was
disturbing me for. For some reason it
may have been reminding that I had not
finished setting up the new dialler
app on it. The old dialler, that came
pre-installed was evidently a trial
program with more and more frequent
reminders that it would be really
great !! to pay to upgrade to the full
version.
I decided to replace it, but
finding a replacement was not easy.
All I wanted was a basic keypad to
dial telephone numbers. I found one
that seemed to be just that except it
was also spyware. It would have liked
to share all my info with a whole host
of advertisers. Fortunately it paid
attention to EU rules, and gives the
option to ignore the advertising and
data collectors. I spent well over
half an hour going through screens and
screens, and then the same in a sub
menu, of say I reject this and that
company. In theory it is well locked
down now. The silly thing is that it
is probably today that it's
replacement, a phone that can use the
5G networks, should arrive.
While I was frantically
scrolled and turning stuff off, I was
aware that I had started to burp a
bit, and some burps had a hint of
acid. Before I even tried for sleep I
took some antacid tablets, and gave
them 20 minutes to work. I then laid
down on my bed, but couldn't get to
sleep because I started to pass some
wind, and felt like I needed to go to
the toilet. I got up and sat on the
toilet for maybe 10 minutes, passed
some wind, and nothing else.
When I went back to bed it
still took about 10 or 15 minutes, but
some time after midnight I finally
fell asleep. From then on it was usual
enough night's sleep - getting up
every two or 3 hours to have a pee. I
was quite glad I did when I came to
weigh myself when I got up. I know I
had some dreams last night. I think
they were too fragmented to make
enough sense to leave any memories.
Despite getting to sleep late I
was awake and could have got up soon
after 5am, but I managed to get back
to sleep until 6.50am. As usual, I got
up and went for a pee, and tried for a
poo. It seemed like I might need one,
but I think it was just wind again. I
feel fairly sure that yesterday
morning I managed to completely empty
my digestive tract, and it may not be
for a few more hours before anything
reaches the end of the line....so to
speak.
After all I ate yesterday, and
I forgot to say that part two of my
dinner last night was an apple, a
pear, and two Satsumas. I expected
that my weight would have gone up a
bit - it was exceptionally low
yesterday morning, and indeed it has
gone up but only by 400gm, and if the
blip yesterday is ignored, I am back
on a slow decline of my weight. That
is often said to be the best way to
lose weight, but I must admit, seeing
that low yesterday was sort of
exciting.
Once again my blood glucose was
either good or bad this morning. Once
again it the Sinocare meter that
spoiled it. It gave a reading of
9.1mmol/l. That was the best of three
readings on that meter. One reading
was far higher ! The Contour meter
read 8.3mmol/l, and maybe that was a
bit better than expected. I am sure I
was not expecting the GlucoRX meter to
read just 7.9mmol/l. If all three
meters had read that low I would be
very happy.
My day today is being
controlled by several things. One is
the weather and the forecast of rain
until midday - even if there is strong
sunshine as I write this (at 10:30am).
If I can find a dry spell a bit later
I may go shopping in Savers and
Poundstretcher. The main constraint is
parcel deliveries. I have one that may
arrive my Royal Mail. It is small
enough that it will probably delivered
by my usual postman, and it may be
small enough to go through my small
letterbox.
The other two deliveries will
probably be done by Amazon. One item
will be my bulk pack of replacement
ink cartridges for my Canon "Pixma"
printer. I think I'll have to start
printing some of my better photos to
use up some of that ink. The other
major item is a new mobile phone that
I will be trialling before use. It is
a cheap Chinese phone made by Honor,
and the prime selling point is that it
can use the 5G network - which none of
my current phones can do. Initially I
will be trialling it with my "Smarty"
sim card, using the 5Gb data package I
recently bought.
