After a cool start (5° C) yesterday was soon warmed up by non stop sunshine, but sadly only as high as 14° C. Nevertheless, in that beautiful sunshine it still felt very comfortable with no coat, and only a short sleeved t-shirt. (edited to show the 5° C start to the day).
  BBC_weather forecast
Today will just be a 1° warmer day than yesterday, and with possibly lighter winds it might feel even feel warmer. This afternoon, in the middle of a day of non stop sunshine, should see the temperature reach 15° C for maybe 5 hours. Some clouds tomorrow morning may mean only sunny spells, but tomorrow afternoon should see non stop sunshine, and the temperature reaching 15° C again. The breeze may be a tiny bit stronger tomorrow.

I knew that what I did yesterday would have consequences today. Fortunately those consequences were not as bad as I feared. What I did, and some of the consequences will become apparent in the rest of today's electronic diary (what you are reading now).

Despite writing a lot yesterday, 2,880 words, I don't recall finishing writing that late, although it was probably a bit later than usual. I had, or allowed myself enough time for a rest after writing, and then I had a shower so I could face the public (not that I would probably have been noticeably whiffy without washing, but I knew I was unclean before that shower). When I say "the public" I really mean other shoppers in Aldi. Some would say they don't count, and it would only be important if I shopped in Morrison's or M&S !

I have two almost identical pairs of trainers. Both are burgundy colour, and share an almost identical style. One pair is made by Converse, and the other are branded "Avenue", and I am pretty sure that is an Aldi brand. The Converse pair feel over starched, or made of rough cardboard. They still need lots of breaking in, and I am not sure my feet are up to the challenge. The supermarket trainers are actually very comfortable - a fact I had almost forgotten.

I wore the supermarket trainers when I went to Aldi yesterday, and it was probably one of the fastest, and most comfortable walk to there in ages. After that I was quite glad to get there, and slow down because I was starting to feel uncomfortable - mostly chest pains starting. I didn't have a clear idea of what I would be buying in Aldi beyond the loose idea that I was in the mood for something meaty.

I ended up spending quite a lot of money in Aldi, and one consequence of that is that I had a lot to carry home. For instance I had 9 litres, or approx 9kg in my rucksack. My two shopping bags were not as heavy, but possibly about 4kg each (although that is no more than a wild guess). I did buy some possibly healthy things, including two intriguing ready made salad. One was apparently "Indian style", and the other "Korean style". I think it just meant the included dressing was flavoured.

I was quite annoyed by two things. In the exact area where I was looking to find some Ciabatta rolls, there were many people cluttering up the isle waiting to get to the self service (or self stealing probably) tills. Meanwhile, there were very short queues at the two staffed checkouts ! I didn't have to wait long to go through the staffed checkout, and I was soon on my way home again.

It initially seemed nice walking to Aldi. I guess I was walking fast enough to warm myself up enough to not notice the wind. It could also have been the direction I was walking. On the way home I think I was facing into the wind, and while not exactly cold, it was starting to get a bit close to chilly. Not being able to speed up more while carrying so much made it feel a bit worse, but once nearer home I crossed the road, and was back in sunshine again, and the sunshine felt nice.

I guess I could have walked further than home, but I knew I was very close to my limit, and so getting indoors was rather nice. I put all my shopping away and got my lunch together. It was not exactly all that healthy, but mostly in the amount of salt involved. I had one medium and one small pack of sushi to start with. I must admit that I did not really study the nutritional information to know it was not healthy, but I am sure it wasn't (or maybe it once wasn't, but is less so now).

What was definitely bad on several counts, was what I had after the sushi. The packet said "I'm new" and that was a quarter the temptation. I think it was described as pork bits. Basically it was circles of bacon that had been stamped out of a much bigger slice, and fried (maybe air fried) until crispy - basically crispy bacon in circular form (about 1.25 inches wide). It was the sort of snack like food you just feed in like it was on a conveyor belt.

I had a lie down after that lunch, and I think I had a snooze for a while. In an ideal world I would have gone out for a walk for pleasure, but I didn't think it could be a pleasure, and so I did almost nothing - almost for the rest of the day. Some hours later I had a snack. Instead of something healthy, like some of the fruit I had just bought, it was pork pies ! They were those little mini pork pies, and the deciding factor was that they had a use by date of the 3rd, and yesterday was the 7th ! The still tasted fine (in that bland sort of way that very cheap pork pies can taste), and they didn't cause any negative reactions.

An hour or two later I had my dinner, and I am sure it was a three course dinner. I know the first course was a very small helping of some new "Soft Scoop" vanilla ice cream. It was an Aldi own brand, and I bought it partly because it was cheap, and mostly because it looked to have a low sugar content - for ice cream. Another thing in it's favour is that it was not very nice, although that does not mean it was unpleasant in anyway. It was just not so nice as to distract from any restraint on eating it.

The main course was chilli beef noodles (I think it mentioned chilli, but if it didn't I added some anyway). I thought it was a ready to eat meal, but it said it needed just under 5 minutes in the microwave. I have to say I have tasted better instant noodles, but it seemed OK. I feel sure I ate something else as well, but I can't remember what it could have been (beyond maybe a small amount of peanuts). I am starting to think I ate less than I thought I had eaten yesterday.

Eating less could explain why I was not troubled with anything like indigestion when I went to bed. I find it hard to quantify sleep, but I think that maybe I slept better than usual last night. That is not to say I didn't get up to pee every 2 or 3 hours. Maybe it tended more towards 3 hours last night, and maybe I didn't pee as much as many nights. Once again it suggested that maybe I would see lower blood glucose levels. That seemed unlikely while I still thought that I had possibly eaten too much yesterday.

Once again I just can't seem to decide if a lot of dreaming is a bad sign or not. I did seem to dream a lot last night, and one dream was a three part dream in the earlier part of the night. I don't propose to try and describe it too deeply - mostly because I can't. I can only try to give an overview. It concerned going to see a gig with people I knew, but who didn't seem to have names, or I never actually saw their faces.

The first dream was either before or after the band had played. We were milling around in a big hall, and many people were eating stuff bought from a few vendors around the periphery of the hall. Many were eating noodles in yellow coloured cardboard cartons. I wanted to eat something, but I resisted the temptation. I think the food was the main point of that part of the dream.

The second part was definitely after the band had finished (which means the first must have been before then band played). The crowd was thinning and the staff, and "security" were hurrying people up, but at that time they were being very polite about it. I said it was going to take me a few more minutes to unscrew a camcorder from a tripod. The tripod was not mine, but it was just laying around in a useful place. Unscrewing the camcorder was hard because the bolt seemed to have almost seized. I managed it in the end, and we (a couple of these unnamed and almost faceless friends) left the venue.

Part three was checking the camcorder tape. I have no idea where I did this, I have no idea what display device I was using. The video seemed life sized and almost 3D. It turned out the band we must have seen was Metallica. We saw them come on stage, and the camcorder captured one slipping/tripping over. They picked up the instruments, and were about to play when the recording seemed to have failed. It seemed a good time to wake up to go for a pee.

I know I had one or more interesting dreams later in my sleep, but they seem to have slipped from my memory after I got up at about 6:40am this morning. Usually when I get up I feel a modestly strong urge for a pee, but this morning it was only a mild urge. I went for a pee as a matter of course, and hoped I would have a poo too.

The day before yesterday I went for quite a few, and usually very productive poos. Yesterday I only did a tiny little poo for the whole day. This morning I was feeling constipated, and the feeling got worse as nothing happened....until about 10am. Even then it was not nearly enough, but I hope it has got things moving. I made 4 or maybe even 5 visits to the toilet prior to this, and that is why I am well behind in my writing. I doubt if I will have finished writing and uploading everything before midday.

Not pooing before I had breakfast meant I had to record I had put on 500gm since yesterday morning. That is annoying, but hopefully it will correct itself tomorrow morning. The only effect of what I ate yesterday was that, admittedly to my great surprise, was that this morning my average blood glucose was lower. The Contour meter read 8.3mmol/l. That is actually a little bit higher than yesterday. The GlucoRX meter read 8.3mmol/, and that is a little bit less. The Sinocare meter read 8.0mmol/l, and that is a lot less. Averaged together give a figure of 8.2mmol/l, and yesterday it was 8.4mmol/l. It is a small drop, but it is a drop (both are OK readings even if, as ever, lower would be a bit better).

My blood pressure is pretty good at 101/48. I expect it might have been a lot higher before I finally managed to have a poo. At the moment I feel on the edge of comfortable, but it is still feeling like I would have to do another couple of big poos before I felt comfortable enough to spend any time away from home. I did have fantasies of getting a few trains today for some rail photography. I even wondered if I dare go as far as the coast to do some seaside photography (although I doubt I would walk very far along the coast).

At the moment I don't really feel any enthusiasm to go anywhere. My enthusiasm has another small dent in because I've just found my latest electricity bill on the door mat. The amount showing owing is a little less than the last bill, and that was easily covered by my standing order. It will cover this bill as well, so I don't have to take any action, but it is still rather depressing.Electricity is starting to be priced as a luxury item these days.

Another reason, albeit not a good, or maybe not even a valid reason is that in 15 minutes it will be midday, and it will be midday before I can have a rest after writing this electronic diary. After that rest I will want some lunch. If I were going out I would refrain, and now we are in a chicken and egg situation. If I am not going out than I want lunch, but if I have lunch I can't go out. I think I have a few very low priority jobs to do instead of going out...and missing the warm sunshine...and missing slowly building up a protective tan before the really strong summer sun. Maybe I should do some work in the garden....maybe........
