Although
sunny spells were forecast from dawn
to 2pm (but in reality around
midday) many of the sunny spells
were really of hazy sunshine shining
around, or through thin cloud. The
morning started at 10° C, and by the
afternoon it had crept up to 16° C.
There were stronger winds than
recently, and that made the 16° C
feel a lot cooler. From 6pm there
was supposed to be drizzle and rain
from 6pm. I think there was a short
period of light drizzle, but
generally it seemed to stay dry as
far as I could see.
This
morning has started at 11° C,
which is pretty good. There sky
is very cloudy, but it still
seems fairly bright, and despite
the forecast not showing it, we
have had a couple of short sunny
spells. The forecast sunny
spells should start at 11am, and
from 3pm we should/might get
full sunshine until sunset.
After the almost warm start, and
the full sunshine, the highest
temperature today, for one hour
at 3pm, may only be 15° C. I
suspect the modestly strong wind
today is blowing in cold air,
and generally making it feel
cold. The headline features for
tomorrow are currently shown as
light rain and and gentle
breeze, but light rain and
drizzle is only shown for 8am to
10am. The rest of the day may be
dry, but it will still be dull
until some possible sunny spells
from 6pm to sunset. The highest
temperature will be just 14° C,
Yesterday was one
of those days when I didn't feel
like doing much. In fact I
hardly did anything. Most of me
was probably OK, but all the
lost sleep the night before left
it's mark - a mark that might
have been ignored if it was an
exciting day, but it wasn't.
I started writing quite
late yesterday, and despite only
writing 2,072 words, it seemed
to take a long time to write. It
didn't help that I made frequent
trip to the toilet because I was
uncomfortable. I seemed to be,
and on a temporary basis, I was
constipated. I did eventually go
at about 1pm if I recall
correctly. It was a fair amount,
but still didn't seem like it
was enough. Fortunately it was
enough for me to feel
comfortable.
After I finished writing
I had my now traditional lie
down. I read for a bit, and I am
pretty sure I had a snooze. One
trouble with yesterday is that
so little happened that there
were no "hooks" to make me
remember stuff in any detail -
or at all ! I think I remember
most of what I ate yesterday,
but maybe there is stuff I
forget because what I think I
ate should have produced
different results this morning.
I think it was probably a
little later than my usual
target of midday, but I had some
lunch yesterday. It could have
been very healthy, or at least
low sugar (best not to think of
the fat content), and it was
cheese of rice crackers. I
spoiled it by using very syrupy
mustard pickle on each cracker
and cheese. I must admit I
thought that extra sugar would
have been processed and gone
long before this morning.
I spent all of yesterday
afternoon either reading from a
book, or reading stuff on the
internet. That only changed at
5pm when it was time for another
episode from Star Trek: The
Original Series. It was one of
those episodes that was sort of
good, and yet sort of bad. I
think it was just before it
started that I got myself a
snack from the freezer - the
last of a 2 litre (I think) tub
of ice cream that I had managed
to make last several weeks by
eating it quite sparingly. I
probably ate a bit more than
ideal yesterday because I
thought I may as well finish it.
Maybe it was two scoops worth.
At 6pm I watched the BBC
News, and while doing so I had a
rather nice dinner that should
have been a mildly healthy meal,
but probably wasn't. It was two
grilled Aberdeen Angus beef
burgers in two Ciabatta rolls
with cheese and tomato sauce
plus a sprinkle of crispy fried
onions. They were rather nice,
but may have been a bit better
if the cheese had been melted on
to of the burgers while cooking.
In one respect they were
healthy enough because they did
not seem to cause any acid
indigestion last night (or
indeed any sort of indigestion).
That may also be because I had
some fruit, a single big orange,
and a red delicious apple for
dessert. Neither was noticeably
sweet. I guess the orange
probably was, but my main memory
of that is that it seemed to
taste a bit watery.
I am not sure why I
didn't go to bed a lot earlier
last night. I stayed up watching
TV until fairly late. After Star
Trek: Voyager - which I am not
sure if I bothered to watch to
the end (it was a fairly tedious
episode) - I watched several
back to back (if you can ignore
the adverts between them)
repeats of The Simpsons. The
last of those ended 5 minutes
before the end of a Christmas
special edition of QI, and so I
watched that last 5 minutes.
QI was followed by Have I
Got News For You - a repeat from
2021. That finished at 11pm. I
had really stayed up late on a
night when I really should have
had an early night. I had
brushed my teeth during a
commercial break, and so once it
finished I was straight into
bed. It seems stupid, but I then
read for 15 to 20 minutes to get
relaxed. Then I put the book
down, turned out the light, and
was possibly fast asleep in just
a few minutes.
I seemed to sleep really
well last night, but it was
evident I really needed that
sleep. I think I slept for 4
hours before getting up, busting
for a pee. It felt like I peed
half a gallon ! I am sure I woke
up from a dream, but all I can
remember is making a
mental note that "I must
remember that dream" - which was
not a lot of help. I am sure I
probably had loads of dreams,
but I can't seem to remember a
think about a single one.
I woke ip just as it was
getting light, and was serenaded
as I sat on the toilet by a host
of birds singing in nearby
gardens. I decied I needed at
least another hour of sleep, and
although I seemed to be half
awake a lot of the last hour, it
was about two hours later before
I got up. This time I only
seemed to do a small pee, and
not a hint of poo despite
feeling a bit uncomfortable.
I was rather
disappointed, or was it amazed,
that I would seem to have put on
600gm since yesterday (and that
was after another pee and a
poo). I was not sure if all I
ate would put weight on, or just
make my blood glucose level
higher. It seems like it was
both. The paradox here is that
if my blood glucose was high, I
should have done more peeing,
and that should have reduced my
weight.
My blood glucose was up a
fair bit on yesterday's
excellent readings. Fortunately
it had only gone up to a rather
typical amount - enough to be
mildly annoyed, but not enough
to need drastic action. The
Contour meter read 8.2mmol/l,
and on any day except after
getting a really excellent
reading it could be called very
good. The GlucoRX meter read a
bit higher at 8.5mmol/l - my old
target until I started doing
better sometimes. The Sinocare
meter was higher still without
being off in la la land as it is
a bit prone to. It read
8.7mmol/l. I just noticed that
the average of these readings is
almost identical to the average
of the day before yesterday.
This morning is another
one of those occasional mornings
when my blood pressure is
unusually low. This morning it
was just 96/4. That is the fifth
reading with the systolic
pressure being below 100mmHg
this month. My average tends to
be around between 103mmHg and
108mmHg for every month so far
this year.
No much is due to happen
on this Saturday sandwiched
between Good Friday and Easter
Sunday. This dull morning
does no inspire me to do
anything at all, although I do
need some shopping, and that
overrides all in this case. I am
intending to get some shopping
in Aldi. I am hoping it will not
be too busy in there, but I feel
sure it will be busy enough that
all the Ciabatta rolls will all
have been bought. They are not,
in strict terms, the healthiest
thing on several levels, but I
also want to get some nice and
meaty ready meals. After
shopping I will do my best to
find enough to do to prevent me
eating everything I buy today !
