Yesterday's weather was very, very horrible. Despite the Met Office saying the sun would break through the clouds at 10am, and the BBC saying 1pm, it stayed a miserable and depressing grey until about 6pm (or was it 7pm). Even when the clouds broke up there was still no sunshine, but at least it was not so dull. For all that, the afternoon temperature still reached 24° C, but with no sunshine it still felt cool enough to keep my bedroom window closed almost all day.
  BBC_weather forecast
My possibly most accurate (since mounting it on a wall that is in permanent shade) thermometer said it was just 15° C outside at a bit after 7am. That is a degree more than forecast. It still felt like an icy blast when I opened the dining room window. The important thing about today is that it has started sunny, and the full, non stop, sunshine may last until 7pm. (Of course this is from the same forecaster that said most of yesterday would feature sunny spells, but actually featured zero sunshine). For all that, only 23° C is expected today. The first half of tomorrow may bed dull and grey. From 2pm there may be sunny spells, and from 5pm there may be full sunshine until sunset. It will be cooler than today - just 22° C forecast.

It was not my intention to do so little yesterday that I might write even less than yesterday morning, but I did do very little. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, I did do one thing - I spent an awful lot of money in Aldi. Most of that money spent was spent on many small things instead of something expensive.

The very dull grey morning sapped most of my enthusiasm, and the dull grey for most of the rest of the day never allowed me to recover any enthusiasm. However I knew I definitely wanted to go shopping in Aldi. As mentioned yesterday, and probably many times before, there are things that Aldi sell that Tesco does not sell. After I finished writing, and having my usual half an hour or so rest, I headed to the bathroom for a wash.

I would have liked to have washed my hair, but I wasn't going on a fashion parade, and anyway, it was almost chilly in the bathroom. I brushed my teeth, rinsed some of my face (rather than a full wash with a soapy face flannel), and had a shower. After that I got dressed, and almost ready to go out - except I didn't feel physically and/or emotionally ready to go out under that dark grey sky. It really looked like it might rain at any minute. A good downpour would have justified that foul grey sky.

Maybe I put on shoes that were unsuitable even if they seemed comfortable once I got started, but I couldn't seem to regulate my walking speed. I always seemed to be walking too slowly, and I couldn't find the energy to speed up. It made me feel that walking home with heavy shopping would be an awful experience. In fact I was probably not walking slow at all, just not quite fast enough to make me need to slow down (or even stop for a short rest).

Once I got to Aldi I soon forgot about the walk, and got on with the the more pleasurable business of selecting stuff off the shelves. I have no idea where the idea came from, but before I had even entered the store I fancied getting some sushi. I expect to aficionados, Aldi's sushi is rubbish, but I sort of like it. As I continued around the store I was putting more and more stuff in my shopping trolley - stuff I would have to carry home.

As well as bottles of soft drinks, I also bought a few beers. One was a German style, and possible genuine German wheat beer. I expect we have had it before, and Jodie will turn her nose up at it. I feel sure she will turn her nose up to the 4 pack of IPA style beers. I bought a 4 pack of 330ml cans, and I tried one last night. It was not nice. I bought other bottles and cans of stuff that all added to the weight I had to carry home.

My personal contribution to madness was to buy three 500ml, or less, tubs of ice cream. All three are quite dangerous unless I eat them in quite small portions. Finally it was time to go through the checkout (manned by a member of staff as is proper and right), and to find how much I had just spent. It was rather a lot, and I only bought two items of £6.99. They were two apparently different versions of the Aldi version of Tequila Rose. They appear to have different makes of Tequila in them.

The walk home as a semi slow slog that seemed to go on for ever. Apart from aching arms, I didn't seem to suffer any other bad symptoms, although I ought to add that my legs were feeling a bit stiff and slow. It felt very good to finally get home, and to start putting all my stuff away. With that done I could relax and eat my two packs of sushi. They were nice, but the thought of all the negative attributes of them, sugar, salt, calories, and probably other stuff spoiled the flavour.

There was one more very naught thing I had to try before I went into hyper lazy mode. it was one of the ice creams I had bought. It was apparently Turtle Beach flavour. I wondered what that could be, and soon found out that it was a two coloured ice cream. Half of it blue, and the other half a light brown/yellow, sand coloured ice cream. One half was supposed to be vanilla, and the other something else. It also had slivers of chocolate in it - I guess they represented broken Turtle shells !

After that naughty but nice lunch I laid down, and read until I fell asleep for a nice snooze.  At least I think it was nice - maybe it just mad time pass faster. One thing I should have been doing at some point was to continue to wash a not so small towel. It was the the towel I had been using after a shower for maybe over a week, and after my shower I put it in one of my big builders buckets to soak in detergent. It is still there this morning.

Very little happened after this until I went to bed. I did take a bit of time out to snack on a bag of giant spicy corn puffs. At about 6.30pm I had my dinner. It was a ready made simple side salad with a heap of grated cheddar cheese on top, and with a generous amount of mayonnaise on top of that. I had five ginger biscuits as a dessert, and washed them down with a single glass of some quite tasty, "no added sugar" sparkling orange drink. It had a bit too much (natural) sugar in it to drinking more of it in one sitting.

There was some stuff on TV that had some small entertainment value, but it was all music stuff, and apart from an occasional look, I mainly listened to it while reading stuff from the internet. At about 9pm I headed to bed. I was not sure if I was sleepy enough for sleep, and I must have read for at least half an hour. When I felt ready I turned over, and closed my eyes. Nothing seemed to happen until I realised that about two hours had passed without me noticing it.

I could try and say the times when I woke up to pee, but I am not sure one or more of those times might have only been a dream. I didn't seem to pee much last night, and yet maybe I did. What I did do was to have a very weird dream in the last hour(s) of sleep. The dream seemed to start with me being at work, probably in a canteen. I noticed a couple of people not wanting to get too close to me. I then noticed that I seemed to be wearing exactly the same clothes as the day before.

It even looked like I had slept in them. The very odd thing was that I couldn't remember a thing about the night before. I wondered if I had drank too much, and may have passed out. I didn't seem to have a hangover, and my only affliction was loss of memory. I decided to check my wallet to see if I had spent any cash. I seemed to have quite wodge of notes in it, and that suggested I had not spent all night buying drinks.

I realised that maybe I might have used a credit card instead of cash, and I checked to make sure all my cards were there - they were, but I had an extra card that belonged to a friend. I wondered how I would get it back to him because he didn't work where I was. The other incredibly weird thing is that I also seemed to have a miniature dog in my wallet. It crawled out, and I wondered how it had survived because I had the wallet in my back pocket, and had been sitting on it !

The dream seemed like it was one dream, but it must have been made of lots of small dreams because the background, and the people in it kept changing. One place seemed to be in a theatre, and another was a cinema, although there is not really a lot of difference between the two. In one sequence I met the owner of the credit card I found, but I seemed to forget to give it back to him. A lot of these changes in background and people got very confusing, and I am not sure I can remember any more with any clarity.

It was a little after 5am when I woke for a pee, and I was feeling a bit cool. I turned the heater on low before going back to bed after having a pee. I barely fell asleep at first, but as the room warmed I seemed to fall into a deeper sleep, but I only slept for an extra hour before getting up. After a pee I weighed myself and found I had put on 700gm. That was a lot, and I was not sure it was wholly from what I ate during yesterday, although that would certainly not have helped. I part blamed it on not peeing enough.

Lack of peeing might suggest my blood glucose was very low - it wasn't " The Contour meter read 8.0mmol/l, and that is almost good. The GlucoRX meter read 7.8mmol/l, and that is good. The Contour Plus meter read 8.6mmol/l. I guess these readings are not actually bad, but for a brief moment I hoped that they may have been lower. That was probably a stupid idea considering the sushi, the ice cream, and the ginger biscuits all eaten yesterday.

The most important thing to do today is to ideally finish washing the big towel, but I doubt I have the time or energy for that. At best I might manage a few rinses, and then set it aside so I can wash my hair and have a shower. I can then put the towel back into some fresh rinse water, and do what I can, when I can.

The main thing today is a beer drinking session with Jodie. I had hoped my latest beer order might have been delivered in time for today, but it has not been despatched yet. There is something going on with the company. When I read the order confirmation email there was a significant part I did not read at first. "Please note that we are currently closed for a short family break and will return on the 28th of July". Either they have not returned yet, or they have accrued a large back order to get through, or they have run off with my money (I found the money has been taken from my credit card).

That is all speculation. What is definite is that the beer fridges are looking fairly sparse at the moment, and I might end up placing another order with a different company tomorrow. Meanwhile I suggested to Jodie she might bring a beer or two with her. They will probably be nasty beers, but I have beers here than I can drink, and in a few case actually enjoy.

Some of those beers may be strong beers, and I'll probably ruin my diet again when I get drunk. It is possible, although not really probable, that I may go for a walk around the park if I seem to have the time (time when I should be washing the towel !). It could be nice for it - nice and bright, and yet not too warm.
